He only ran in 2000 against Bush and won the Popular Vote but lost the Electoral College. Therefore Bush became the president.

He did not run in 2004 and as of right now is not running for 2008, although he seems popular and had a great hit with An Inconvenient Truth. Some speculate he will end up running again for 2008 due to this surge in popularity.

He ran twice. The first time he was senator from Tennessee, ran in 1988, but had to pullout because his son Albert was hit by a car in RFK Stadium parking lot after a Redskins game and almost died. He was by his son's side everyday. He also ran in 2000 vs George W. Bush, as vice-president.

He only ran one time in 2000 when he lost to present incumbent, George W. Bush. Most of us were grateful that he spared us another run for the Presidency. His bumbling and taking credit for creating the Internet were more than we could handle first time around.
