What is wrong with people these days?
ACCIDENTS ARE ACCIDENTS. Thats why they call them accidents. You should get money just for being involved in an accident.
Ow I got a papercut at work, Im sueing!!
My dad tapped a ladies bumper going under 5 mph in a parking lot and it had NO damage but she sued my dad for $50,000 because of back injury.
its such BS. Come on, people, stop being so damn greedy.

Too many lawsuits. Lawyers contribute to the election campaigns of judges, judges favor lawyers. It works for them.
If the government were to protect the consumers better, maybe there were less damage to consumers and less lawsuits.
In Michigan in the late 1980s, a study showed that there was only one claim for every 10 cases of medical malpractice.
The patients hospital charts were reviewed and it was found huge number of cases of malpractice by doctors and hospitals, the patients were damaged but they did not become aware of it, and therefore no claims were made.

Its all about greed and getting rich quick. Its ignorant, but hard to stop. My wife love tapped some guy who stopped short in front of her. We sat there for an hour chatting, waving our arms, telling jokes and checking out the vehicles while waiting for the police. He had NO damage what so ever, and had no signs of injury what so ever. We were shocked when 10 months later we recieve notice from our insurance company that the SOB was sueing us. He had already claimed his vehicle totalled and our company actually paid the idiot. Then he claimed he was grievously injured. He didn't even attempt to see a doctor until 4 weeks after the incident happened. It was nothing more than a scam and he was a crook. He lost by the way. Thought he would get big bucks from us, and he couldn't get jack squat and had to settle for the insruance companys offer which in my opinion was too much, he should have been denied one red cent. But the insurance company will pay them because the amounts are far less that what it would cost to take it to court and expose his lying crook of a butt. Courts and legal stuff should be FREE.

A very large part of the problem is our system and the lawyers that run the personal injury machine. There is little downside to filing a frivolous claim. maybe you will win some money, maybe the insurance company will settle to avoid costs or maybe you will get lucky and a jury will give a big award. If you lose, no big deal, you walk away.
In some countries, the loser pays the legal fees of the winner in almost every case. (That is possible in the U.S., but it is rare.) This is a better system because there is a real downside to filing a weak case. We need such a system.

People believe someone else OWES them. It doesn't matter who they sue or destroy financially because they DESERVE it (or so they believe). IMHO it is due to all the 'entitlement' programs out there. There are many people out there who need a helping hand--but there are many more who want something for nothing.
Tell your dad he is in good company. We also were sued for the same type of accident you described. No damage to speak of--so we were wondering how the passenger in the other vehicle (belted, btw) received $$K of 'back/neck injuries'. (Police report proves she was FINE at the accident scene.) Our insurance co at the time DIDN'T EVEN NOTIFY US THEIR WAS A CLAIM until she hired a professional extortionist. They never investigated her injury claims and paid her to the limit of our policy.........we had to hire an attorney to demand satisfaction from our insurance co since they never investigated and they failed to notify us...it was PROGESSIVE INSURANCE btw---insure with them at your own risk!

I agree!!!! People have no sense of pride.
Did you hear about the U.S. judge....yes, that's right, JUDGE who sued a couple that owned a dry cleaner's for millions of $$ because they lost a pair of his slacks?
Then, they found the slacks a week later, but somehow he had gone past all that and took it to court.
The couple obviously could not afford it and thus went back to Korea. So much for their American dream. I guess the American dream is becoming "let's sue people for outrageous things."

*"we've Christians. and that they do no longer constantly accept as true with one yet another on specific tenets of religion"* yet they're assume to! it quite is the final concept. that's why they argue among themselves because of the fact they're ALL assume to stick to each be conscious in that indoctrination bible to the letter. in the event that they do no longer then they do no longer seem to be probably (interior the experience of the be conscious), a real *Christian*. it quite is the area which you ignored. And maximum folk of the human beings in this usa *think of* it to be a *"Christian usa"*, it quite is why they base each thing alongside with politics extremely on *Christianity*. Islam and the Mormon faith, Scientology and different *different* religions different than Christianity are many times frowned upon by using the a lot in this usa nonetheless. even regardless of the undeniable fact that there are maximum of different religions right here at present residing edge by using edge. this is nonetheless an especially bias usa related to faith and different issues. i do no longer see that ever changing regularly occurring.

greed like you said is the main culprit. the lawyers, the insurance companies and the politicians all have a hand in this. they just let average poor joe schmuck think he's in charge of the lawsuit.
the result of all these extravagant suits are higher insurance premiums. higher costs in consumer products because of additional labeling ("remove shells before ingesting peanuts"). i can go on and on. people are dumb

It is embarassing. In alot of the cases I read about, I would be ashamed to admit I did something so stupid to hurt myself.
My favorite is the woman who won a large settlement because she tripped over and unruly kid in a furniture store and broke her arm. She accerted that the store should have been more stern about the kid running around....
THE KID WAS HER OWN SON.
