If science tells that mankind (or should I say humankind now because of PC) has some DNA coding shared with that of mice pigs and even the fly. If that is so does that mean there is no foundation in the christianity creation theory? Does it blow god out of the water

DNA is made up of combinations of only 4 base nucleotides therefore it is not surprising that we share so many sequence similaries with other animals.

I am a scientist by profession but have to confess that science is afterall just a series of theories and hypotheses.

Evolution is one such theory and really has too many loopholes contained within it to say for sure that it is fact. Natural selection is pretty damm close to being fact, but it is a huge leap to go from showing that natural selection helps a few butterflies exist for longer to the theory that we evolved from apes.

Therefore in my opinion, since no 1 single theory covers the whole story, creationism (or whatever it is called?) can not be totally ruled out as nonsense. There is not really much more proof that it is untrue than there is of evolution being true.

Ever heard of the mitochrondrial DNA "Eve" theory?? Very interesting theory..would recommend a read if you're interested in the whole science vs. God area.

Yes, humans share a huge amount of DNA with mice, pigs and somewhat less with flies. But, we all started from the same stuff.

It used to be thought that the sun was actually a god in a chariot flying across the sky each day. It used to be thought that the stars, sun and all the planets circled the the earth. In fact, Galileo was imprisoned by the church for suggesting otherwise. I could go on.... and on....

With each scientific advance, god recedes a little more. Current DNA science is building on previous evolutionary evidence. The DNA is filling in a lot of gaps (which is what scientific advances do) and verifying the overall theory of evolution.

Why isn't there a way for them both to be correct? Couldn't God have just used evolution as his mechanism of creation?
Similar DNA doesn't mean that creation is wrong. However, it is strong evidence for evolution. Still, if evolution can build off of past achievements, why can't God? Why would he create a whole new set of proteins and body functions for every organism? That would probably also mean they needed an entirely different environment - but since we share an environment, it makes sense to have similar building blocks.
Again, this is not proof either way of the existence of God. Just more evidence for the evolution theory (which I believe, by the way).

In response to the thumbs down people: it's stupid to rate based on opinions. Note that I didn't say either one was right.

Every scientific fact blows God out of the water. Read up on paleontology, you'll see what I mean.

Good question. Maybe we start off as these before we are reborn as human - you know, like promotion for good deeds?? Or maybe not. Im on the fence ova these issues. Man, i talk cr*p!!! xxxxxxxxxxx
