I only wish Bush had the power to control the price of gas, but it is above his pay grade. These are the guys really in control.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is an international organization made up of Iraq, Indonesia, Iran, Kuwait, Libya, Angola, Algeria, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela. The Vienna-based organization has maintained its headquarters there since 1965, they hosting regular meetings between the oil ministers of its member states. The organization is considered a cartel by many observers.
You want to complain, pick the right department. Bush's "best wet dream" would be that he had any control over these guys. He is not the greatest with foreign policy. Then there is the ultimate question, what would you really do if you controlled most of the oil in world, would you give it away, only you know the true answer.

Bush COULD do what Nixon did.
August 15, 1971. In a move widely applauded by the public and a fair number of (but by no means all) economists, President Nixon imposed wage and price controls. The 90 day freeze was unprecedented in peacetime, but such drastic measures were thought necessary. Inflation had been raging, exceeding 6% briefly in 1970 and persisting above 4% in 1971. By the prevailing historical standards, such inflation rates were thought to be completely intolerable.

The first question - - - I guess Bush is doing his job to the best of his ability. Next, gas prices. They're going up.

Who cares? The higher the gas prices, the sooner people will get serious about ethanol and methanol production. Do you have any idea how simple it would be to rejet carburetors and reset fuel injection timing to make cars biofuel compatible? We could be doing this NOW, but people don't want to change over because of nothing more than INERTIA. We NEED a kick in the pants. If Bush's $4-5 per gallon finally does that, GREAT!

The oil lobbies were the main contributers to the Bush campaign-as a result the are receiving Billion dollar subsidies and incredible profits. Don't fool yourself the Budh adm. represents the Wealthy and the corrupt. I wish it wasn't that way. The Bush adm. is a great American tradgedy. With these profits-why is the Bush adm insisting on such huge ssubsides-hopefully the Dems will put a stop to the subsidies-the oil companies are raking it in while they can.

Ignorance is bliss.
Democrats somehow depict that Bush sets the gas prices for the World. Interesting.
Is this a new philosophy or a silly phenomena?
I swear to God I'm going to start educating those damn kids myself if (most) teachers can't do their jobs!
PS. Can we ban making MORE refineries to keep making the frikking liberals happy? Wait, that's an oxymoron.
If not making refineries raises gas prices and they ALSO get mad at Bush... You people can't be happy and mad over the same issue. Wait - I figured it out.
You can because you're highly educated liberals!
edit again:
Hey GOP Princess... Are you single?? That was hot!

Nothing is with Bush and gas prices. The prices are set by oil cartels over which we have no control, supply and demand in the US and refineries.
Stop blaming Bush for everything. Be thankful for your freedoms.

bush has nothing to do with it to answer your question... but, i do have a problem with what certain people have said to this question. it's not just poor/welfare people that are affected by the gas prices. i am not on welfare, i go to school, and i work full time. and i still am affected severly by the cost of gas. sorry i don't make 80k a year. i've made all the appropriate adjustments in my budget.. making cuts, doing without..etc etc. gas is a major part of my budget and i do alot of necessary driving.. and no, my car is not a POS... like that matters that much anyway... all i'm saying is, you're everyday joe schmoe middle-class american can still be affected in a major way. you don't have to be poor. or on welfare. ******also, yeah we're able to reset fuel injection timing and such to accomodate methanol and other alternative fuels... buuuuuut, who's gonna pay for it?? the govt? us? gas companies? we need to figure out who's gonna pay for it first before we get ahead of ourselves.
