While India played convincingly and reasonably well in the first day of first test, they should carry on with the good performance and win the test convincingly if at all to take some credit

To an extent yes. The most entertaining part was the display by Dravid and Karthik in the first session. Bangladesh was running out of ideas then. Sadly, they threw their wickets in the lunch.
