It's hooking due to the fact you need to vote to have the show run. People like interaction and American Idol gives a lot of it!
However, America should follow it's example and do that for the 2008 elections!
Imagine, have Presidential Canidates debate on certian topics, like the war, abortion, gay rights, etc. week after week and have the people vote. The one with the least votes leaves and the winner is president.
Sorry, got a little off-topic, but wouldn't that be awesome?

Some people watch it just for the fun of it. Others like to see the new and upcoming stars. As for me, I only watch AI if they have any singers who are worth watching. Take this year for example. I kept up with American Idol because of Melinda Dolittle. Homegirl is gonna go far with her singing career. But now, that she has been voted off, I no longer care for AI because the two singers they have up there are lame. But its just a tv show that people watch for fun. Some people get into it more than others.

I like to see people sing live. I know that it is commercialized but it is fun to watch. I like to be able to vote for my favorite. It makes you feel like you are involved in the show. It's almost like a sports team. You have a vested interest in it. I am still a loyal fan to Elliott Yamin, season five and I hope I will always be.

It is fun to watch some nobody jump on stage and come away with a record deal. Very inspirational to hear their stories and wonderful voices. GO BLAKE!

I dont think that im into it...i just enjoy seeing the contestants get a verbal smack down by Simon. Oh and I enjoy seeing how screwed up paula is that week
