Look around at the married people you know and draw your own conclusions, my observations have been that it varies between marriages. Some men will work two full time jobs/work full time--go to college full time, some married women do this, some husbands play heavier than they work not lifting a helping hand with house chores or raising children, some married women even without children do not do not work in the home or outside of home.

So my answer is it depends on the individual marriage.

I feel wives do more, at least from what I can see. We take care of the house, cooking, laundry, bills, errands, homework, kids and go to work. It never ends. Most men go to work, expect a hot dinner on the table then relax in front of the TV while the wife cleans up the dinner mess, does the dishes and then gets the kids ready for bed. By this time, she is so exhausted she wants nothing but to sleep and cannot even relax before she passes out as she puts her head on the pillow.

In my own opinion I think wives does more, esp. when it comes to household. Husband will go to work each day, if they know how to fix things, they might fix their cars if it's broken, and sometimes they will clean the lawn, but wives are taking care of the house, the cooking, cleaning, ironing, buying groceries, pay bills each month, and if there's kids in the picture, take cares of the kids, and what ever goes with it. And for those wives that has a career, they still manage to do their duty at home,...like my life and my 3 kids...

We each do more on different days. It's not a competition, its life. We both work hard. We have four kids and there is always something to be done. We try to be as efficient as possible so we're not constantly working. I'm a stay at home mom so I do most of the house stuff while he's at work. We both do things with the kids. He lends a hand when possible. I'd say our work load is different but equal as far as time goes.

I don't know about in every relationship but I know in mine my husband works full time as a school teacher and I stay at home with our little one, cook, and clean. Though, my husband doesn't expect me to do everything I like getting things done around here because I know he works hard everyday and I'm just thankful to stay at home with our baby boy. :)

Husbands usually do more as they are expected to. And, they are expected to not whine or complain about it or they are considered weak, etc. Women on the other hand complain about how hard it was to work all day. In other words, things are the same as when we lived in caves.

I think it is defenetly women who do more in the relationship. If a woman works outside of home. She has work then has to come home and cook, clean and take care of the kids.

Well we both work full time jobs M-F. The difference is that I'm the one who also gets the kids ready for school, pack lunches, drive them to school, shop for them, cook for them, do the dishes, bathe them, etc etc. When he gets off work he plops onto the couch and plays his damn Xbox 360. I think I do more!

In our house we do the same, just different. Our jobs are different from eachothers but that does not mean either one of us does more or less. I do more dishes, he changes the oil more than I do. When you start to compare who is doing more, your life will start to get piddly.
