Germany's attack on the USSR was instrumental in factualizing their eventual defeat.

When Hitler stormed Russia on june 22 1941 he had dreams of victory but the ferocious winter set in freezing the troops and armor, such horrible conditions made it almost unbelievable that the in April 1942 when things thawed out the germans continued they're siege on Leningrad.

This severily hurt the german bulk and during the later Russian counter-offensive it crushed the hope of the army and sent them reeling back to the homeland.

With American and British forces pushing they're way in the west and Russian squeezing in the east Germany's military resources were exhausting bringin Hitler to the order of scorched earth. This policy means that nothing should be left that can be used by the enemy. The destruction of the german cities by bombing raids combined with the self-inflicted crop loss and damage sealed the german collapse.

Keep in mind, - Russia wasn't the only country to defeat the Nazis, they reached Berlin first however.
Hope this helps.

A Russian person would be very insulted that you left out Soviet Union since they believe (correctly) that they had the biggest contribution the outcome of the war (about 80% of the German troops were engaged on the eastern front. As to why Germany lost - basically because their enemies had greater resources, larger population, backed by a strong resolve to resist the invaders. Soviet Union was a huge country with 3 times the population of Germany. United States had a powerful economy, capable of producing vast quantities of tanks, airplanes, ships, etc. Germany simply did not have the resources to fight such a prolonged and costly conflict.

Trading land for time in order for the Russian winter to set in & slow, if not stop, the Germans. They also moved their armaments industry east of the Urals, placing them out of each of the enemies while adopting a scorched earth policy, depriving the Germans of food & military supplies whose supply lines grew more vulnerable & weaker with every mile of advancement.

This supply line was finally cut-off in operation Uranus where the Soviet Armies outflanked the Germans & cut off the 6th Army at Stalingard, turning the tide in the Eastern Front.

Its USSR-Union of Soviet Socialists Republic-the weather was bitterly cold and the Russians lost 20M people but as the Germans advanced further into Russia, a huge, bitterly cold country, the advancing winter caused the German lines to dessert, and starve and die.
The Russians were more committed than the Germans because it was their homeland. The weather helped.

With lots of help.

USSR was sent thousands of planes, tanks, trucks and even locomotives early in the war. This allowed them the time to build much of their own war materiel. But militarily the Russian tactics were pretty basic. Just send in more and more men and tanks until you break through, and then send even more men and tanks to that area and repeat. That's why they suffered more casualties than all other combatant nations in Europe combined.

hitler was a dope and thought he could beat the russians. but it was super cold out and he underestimated stalin's willingness to let so many of his troops die for the cause. Too cold for the germans; many of them died of disease and starvation in the cold russian weather.
