I saw a disturbing video today of a 17 year old girl being stoned to death in Iraq. How on earth can Bush think that people with this type of mindset could ever comprehend democracy? I don't think we can comprehend their world and they sure don't want to become like Americans. Why on earth are we there trying to force people to be what they do not want to be? Our troops are dying daily. Not everybody wants our brand of "freedom". You cannot force that onto someone. When will Bush have that realization?

Harley, I have not labeled them as anything other than a vastly different culture from American. Not all cultures have the same wants and needs. If these people do not want us there, what rights do we have to force our way of life, our ideals and our governmental ways on them? I called nobody a terrorist. Like it or not, not all people are good ole boys. Some people are horrified by the American ways.

Honor killings are nothing new. They happen almost everyday in the middle east. It is a very common practice of a family to have a daughter that they feel has "disgraced" them publically executed. Usually her executioners are her family members. This is carried out in many different ways.

To Monkey....thanks and I hope you are right. I hope someday such events will not happen and that freedom would extend to women as well as men.

You might be right on the Rodney King video...but Rodney lived to talk about it. This girl didn't. Both are sad events to have happened.
