Ever wonder why, just before the crew ships out for the season, they have a pastor ask for God's blessing on their harvest of an animal that God specifically forbade eating?

Lev 11:9 ¶ These shall ye eat of all that [are] in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.

Lev 11:10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which [is] in the waters, they [shall be] an abomination unto you:

Lev 11:11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.

Lev 11:12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that [shall be] an abomination unto you.

Yes kind of strange I would say. I would like to know where in the bible this is. I am not very bible savvy. I would imagine that they are asking for the most part of being safe on their journeys through crab season. Love the show but never have paid that close attention to this part of it. It always seem like I catch it when it is about 15 mins into it.

Probably because they are going out into some of the roughest , deadliest seas to fish which would make you think of your own mortality as you left.
Not a religious expert but honestly, people know what is right or wrong in their hearts, and in trying to figure out what the scriptures mean, leads people to multible interpretations.
For instance, I used to play a card game that had individual rules for some select cards in the deck and out of say six people, four would read the paragraph differently and had their own interpretations of their rules.

That was part of the law directed at the Jews. Since Jesus died and rose again we are no longer under the law, but under Grace.
