I almost delivered in the car.....lol but I made it in time I got to the hospital and she was already crowning she came out 14 mins. after I walked into the hospital. I know your fears I am 34 weeks too and contracting often, I am nervous as well. I guess if it happens it happens, I have faith that it would all work out. If you feel like you are gonna deliver at home or in the car keep your cell phone close by so that you can call 911 and someone would be there soon to help ya. Good luck and I am gonna watch this question too........lol (just as nervous)

My best friend delivered in her sisters car on the way to the hospital only 20 minutes after her water broke. It was in a convience strore parking lot with people pumping gas and watching. hee hee!! They got a police man there and soon after an ambulance was there to take mama and baby on to the hospital where she delivered the placenta. They actually strapped the baby to her and left the afterbirth in. She was fine, and the baby is now a tough little 6 year old boy.

I'm in the same boat as you. I had a 2 hour labor, from start to the baby being out, and I'm so scared I wont make it to the hospital next time. My doctor told me that as soon as aI start to efface and dialate she will induce me to prevent me having the baby at home or in the car. I know someone who had her baby at home, and she was 32 weeks pregnant. The paramedics got there about 5 minutes after the baby was born. The baby ended up being okay, but due to prematurity spent a few weeks in the NICU.

I haven't yet!!! I am planning a home birth with my next...
Maybe you should look into switching and getting a midwife and just doing it at home... It is a lot more cost effective, and you have the convenience of not having to anywhere and having everyone come to you. You have the comfort of home, and the reassuring benefit that there are no deadly infectious germs around (hospitals have 4 strains of bacteria that are lethal and have no cure, lurking in them!) No strangers handling your baby...The list of pros goes on and on especially for someone like you who is healthy, and has quick normal deliveries!!!
Keep in mind I am recommending a PLANNED home birth assisted by a midwife professional, not an accidental unassisted home birth.
Otherwise, I think you should go to the hospital as soon as labor begins...Do risk it by hanging about the house!

My aunt delivered in the back of her minivan along a major highway. She loves to tell the story. Of course this was 20 years ago, but she had no complications. It was baby #3 for her.

I've delivered 4 of my kids at home and plan to deliver this one there as well. It was pretty simple. They came out and all was well.

I HAVE NEVER DELIVERED OUT OF THE HOSPITAL BUT AS AN EMT-I HAVE CAME ACROSS A FEW CLOSE CALLS. IT CAN BE VERY STRESSFUL BECUASE YOU ARE NOT READY FOR IT AND YOU ARE IN AN UNFAMILIAR ENVIRONMENT IN THE BACK OF AN AMBULANCE. MAKE A PLAN WITH YOUR DOCTOR TO SEE IF YOU CAN BE INDUCED BEFORE YOUR DUE DATE TO AVOID THAT SITUATION. i WAS INDUCED TWICE TO AVOID IT!!!!! MY KIDS ARE FINE AND THERE WERE NO COMPLICATIONS. GOOD LUCK!!!
