Hi dude , from what i know , it's a star , it's not a planet because The Sun :

1) We can't live on it , and it's too hot
2) It's too bright , and any star is so shiny
3) It consists of many gases together , and it's boiling and the planets are only 9 or 10 i guess , the tenth is ( Planet X ) .
4) It is the largest star in the Solar System , which makes a reaction in the atoms which is Nuclear fusion .
5) The 10 planets are known without the sun .
6) It is the biggest star which is also the hottest which gives us heat , and because its the hottes ; it's the only star which we are able to see at the morning until the noon , the it goes to other countries because ( The sun goes round itself , while it goes round the world , in 24 hours , until it comes to the same county again , actually it's only 12 hours for all the people because the people almost sleeps 12 hours and wakes almost 12 hours , but some people wake 14 hours and sleep only 10 , some people sleep 15 and wake only 9 somethings like that ......... . Okay buddy that's all i have got for u but at last ( The Sun is a star not a planet ) . Good luck buddy !!

every star that you see in the sky is a sun, sometimes a solar sistem has two or more stars rotating around each others, but we call sun only our star, and all the other suns stars. ok? our sun created the planets in our solar sistem, and once it is dead, all planets around it will go ashtray too, meaning earth as well.

It's a Star. It's a yellow dwarf classification G4, which is sort of like the League 1 classification for stars. The full league run down is OBAFGKM with O being the biggest and hottest (example S.Doradus).
