Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel said that during the holocaust in the camps "it was human to be inhuman"
The holocaust is not just the slaughter of millions of people by an evil dictator or a tragedy for the jewish people. The Holocaust was a tragedy of massive proportion on humanity and the human race itself. Every flaw in the human race exposed itself from every angle. The Cowardice of the allies to allow hitler to rise to power for fear of another war. The Fear and selfishness, of our citizens who were consumed for the need of isolationism "better you than me" was obviously the motto since we didn't enter the war until 1944. That was also the year soviets liberated and found the first solid proof that the stories we were hearing were worse than we'd imagined. The first jews were deported and gassed in 1941 and nobody even had solid proof of it's existence although we knew. There wasn't any solid proof because nobody had bothered to care enough to get any. Of Course Hitler and his army of SS are the definition of evil incarnate it's almost ridiculous to think that he was ever allowed to take even an ounce of power but his rise to power was fast and pretty easy. what the world did was basically allow an evil homicidal sociopath who should have been locked up in a mental institution years ago instead o f basically being handed a country filled with eager followers who were so desperate to escape their problems many which were still from the first war they started. I wonder what it would be like the if the U.S. had giving son of sam complete power instead of arresting him although that wouldn't be quite as bad at all b\c SOS was a schizophrenic who took orders from the neighbors dog. Hitler was insane but his ideas were all his own. So many lives wasted for no reason it so easily could have never happened I see the holocaust as humanities war against evil a place where an actuall "hell on earth" existed in our most enlightened and technically advanced century no third world country to blame, no particularly clever plan, no lack of knowledge that people were being killed maybe we didn't estimate the millions slaughtered but would 1 million been acceptable to ignore? I believe humanity lost battle the only people fighting for survival were those in the camps and the bravery of many good citizens who risked being sent to a camp or killed on the spot themselves to hide people sometimes people they didn't even know. Roosevelt sent a boatfull of jews that landed on our shores back to germany.but a few individuals located in the center of all insanity did what entire countries wouldn't do.they are real heroes they gave humanity hope and at the same time it makes it almost sadder that they proved how much difference an individual could make even one life saved is ONE LIFE think of your own I bet if it was you it would make all the difference. That is why we have to learn from this and remember so that we stop tragedies like this long before they it has a chance to get to you.
Niemöller
They came first for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time no one was left to speak up.

Do your own homework. Yes that is true.
You need to have sources.
William Shirer The Rise and Fall of Adolph Hitler and the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich
You can also site the records of the Trials at Nuremberg
The Holocaust began in Austria when a Jewish property owner's son raped a teenage girl who worked on the property. She had a bastard son named Alois. She could not give her new born son the ethnic Jew's name because the child was illegitimate. Her maiden name was Schicklgruber. Later she married a man named Hiedler and after she died the bastard Alois was raised by her husband's family who adopted him. As an adult Alois changed his name to Hitler.
The story continues when the bastard Alois was a child abuser and often beat his son Adolph so badly that he was hospitalized. The story continues when Adolph went off to college to study art and was belittled by mostly Jewish art professors who refused to recognize his talents and later Hitler was expelled from school and was a starving artist, painting in poverty.
The story continues during World War I when a young Hitler fought bravely during the war and later discovered that high ranking officials in the German government had surrendered to the allies despite the war efforts of the military in battle. Hitler blamed the Marxists who were gaining a foot hold in the German government and all of the Marxists were ethnic Jews.
Fast forward to the end of World War 2 in Nazi Germany. In all 11 million Germans were put to death, 6 million of them German Jews. Add to that all the people that were put to death from Poland to North Africa, all the soldiers and civilians that the Nazis killed the death toll is at close to 100 million people. Jews were put into shower stalls that contained poisoned gas. The Nazis made Jews dig their own graves at gun point then shot them and threw them into the holes. Jews with tattooed skins were skinned like cattle and their skins were made into decorative lampshades. Human soap and feed for pigs was made from the Jewish corpses.

The Holocaust represents a time when people were not attentive to their government and allowed a political leader like Hitler to go as far as he did, till it was too late.
It also means to me not to be so attached to one party that you loose sight of what is really going on. People in America who are so party blinded no longer have the ability to see clearly similar to the German people in Hitlers time.
Hitler appealed to their desires until they became their nightmares.
I cannot over look the millions of people killed and extend my sorrow and disgust for what happened.
The Holocaust was a time of horrific violence equal to the ignorance of the people who allowed this to happen. The people who in the beginning felt a stronger sense of entitlement by excluding others and allowing their jealousies
and envy to blind their discernment.
When you vote for a candidate because they want to elevate a group of people by oppress another group of people you vote again for a Hilter and don't be surprised if a Holocaust is the end result.
Choose for the good of all people!

The HOlocaust is traditionally defined as the Nazis attempts to eradicate the lands they held from Jews. To me personally though it means any wholesale mass murder by the Nazis towards "undesirable" groups (e.g., Jews, Gypsies, the mentally retarded, the physically disabled, Catholics, Protestants, homosexuals, Leftists, etc.)

A perfect example of why its wrong to have blind faith in your government, and why its wrong to give them unlimited power to run the country unchecked all in the name of national security and protecting the homeland. That sometimes people running the government can not be trusted, even though they say they are going to extremes to protect you.
These are the things that let Hitler and his people gain control of Germany which led to the Holocaust.
