Ego, substance abuse and some bad advisers. So I have read. I wasn't there. Met Deanna, the late wife. She was totally level headed. Dean Jr died after and Dino was too gone already to handle that. Lewis... rumor had it he was, well, not easy to deal with. Watch his telethons? He was the wanna be chairman of the board (ala Sinatra)yet a brilliant comic & philantrophic man.

From what I remember hearing and reading it was mostly because they were great together and Dean couldn't make in the movies without Jerry. Mostly they were too competitive of each other. Each thought he was the reason they were the hit not realizing it was the team that made it work!

They never really liked each other they were good on stage but off stage it was pretty bad. Martin wanted a solo singing career that is how he started.. Lewis was a stand up comedian going nowhere. They clicked one night and the rest was history. Once they were financially solvent they just moved on, its what normally happens with comedy teams.

Jerry Lewis was and is an idiot. They did not get along and the split was for many years. I don't know if the rift was healed before Dino's death. I loved Dino's
singing, so laid back and smooth.
