No, it is not hard to move or get used to the house. I've moved about 6 times and haven't had any problems.

The hardest thing about moving seems to be getting rid of stuff prior to the move. Less is best--for clutter free. Then be sure to label the boxes for which room they go in when you move. Label the rooms if needed so the movers can put the boxes in the right rooms.

As for the house--getting used to the new sounds of the house, the settling of the house and its foundation, the sounds of the neighborhood, those may differ from your previous place and take some getting used to.

When I moved next to a railroad track, that was easy to get used to except when they'd switch rails and drop off rail cars. That would shake the house.

When I moved by a busy street corner, I never got used to the motorcycles or loud vehicles stopping and starting at the street light day and night.

One place had forced air heat. That scared the bejeebers out of me for the longest time. A whoosh of air so loud it seemed, compared to baseboard and radiated heat. I don't miss that forced air one bit, now that I've moved from there. I would never move into a forced air heated place again.

Utility bills can be tough or better than before. Right now I have a thermostat in each room, even the bath, so can totally control the heat usuage in the house.

Any door, window or wall outlet drafts can up your utilities cost. That's hard on the pocketbook.

Enough said. I hope it helps.

As to being hard to move, it's going to depend on how much you have, and how many people are helping. My husband's in the Masons. Half his lodge turned out to help, and caravaned to the new house (Luckily I wasn't there when they moved our couch and entertainment center by lifting it off the second story balcony).

We didn't have much trouble adjusting--it was much better than our apartment. Although I have to confess I still have a box or two that I haven't unpacked (we moved in 2001).
