I've never not worn my belt. My mother would have smacked me as a child if I took it off and that carried over into adulthood and three pregnancies. You place the lap belt over your lap, under your tummy. By no means are you safer without it.

You should absolutely wear a seatbelt while pregnant! I have never seen or heard anyone say that you shouldn't wear a seatbelt. I am 38 weeks pregnant and wouldn't ride/drive anywhere without first putting on my seatbelt. I suppose it's all personal preference and beliefs, but it is probably the safest for you and the baby.

Wow, that's ignorant.
You should ALWAYS wear your seatbelt when you're in a car, pregnant or not.
By the way, the number one cause of death of unborn children in the third trimester is fetal injury due to automobile accident...I would think a seatbelt would HELP. What could people possibly think is bad about a car seat? It's a restraint mechanism.

It is perfectly safe to wear a seatbelt, just make sure that it is one that goes over your shoulder as well, my doctor always gave me these print outs when i went for my check up and one was about seat belts and pregnancy. Just make sure that the seatbelt is at a comfortable setting, think of consequences pregnant women have been in car accidents and survived as well as their baby because of a seat belt. It wont hurt your child.

I am also a firm believer in wearing a seat belt at all times, even during pregnancy. When I was pregnant with my 3rd, I was rear-ended twice within a 6 month period. The second accident set off a chain reaction wreck that my car ended up in the middle of. Thankfully, I only suffered whiplash, and my baby was fine. In the second, my head almost hit the steering wheel. Had I not been wearing it would have and who knows how badly I could have been injured.

It's just stupid and irresponsible to not wear a seatbelt while pregnant. You do have to adjust the lap belt part a little bit to make sure it's completely beneath your belly...but that's it. You'd be injured far more if you got into an accident not wearing a seat belt, than if you were wearing it. It's common sense.

You should of course always were your seatbelt. What do you think would happen to your baby if you were ejected from a vehicle. I mean really people. The lapbelt portion of the seatbelt should be under your belly and the shoulder portion of the seatbelt should go across your chest as best as possible.

You should definetely wear a seatbelt at all times. When you are pregnant just make sure the part that goes across your waist is under your belly.
