I work at a group home and a lady sometimes doesn't make it to the bathroom. She has a fake wood floor and I proceed to clean it up with 409 or a mixture of bleach and water (with a mop). But lately her floor always seems sticky and it always has a sweet scent to it... what do I do??

First: The lady can't help it. She gets UTIs quite often.

How do I remove the stickniness and smell of urine on a fake wood floor?

I have had good luck with a product called Simple Solution. This is available in pet supply stores. I use it for someone who CAN help it, he just doesn't want to (a cat). This will not help with the stickiness, but if you soak the area with it it will take care of the smell. As for the stickiness, wash with a white vinegar / water mixture and make sure to dry the area.

vinegar cancels out the scent of ammonia. The floor may actually be sticky because of what you are using to clean it.

Most likely the urine has penetrated the substrate, only removal and replacment would rid you of the odor

If YOU clean it up, she's never going to learn. You need to make HER clean it up.
