I'm 22 weeks pregnant and I was fired from my job when I was 16 weeks pregnant because I was throwing up all over the place, going home early, and calling in sick. I threw up on MYSELF many times because my boss wouldn't let me go home. That was when I worked at Pike's Market in Seattle. I felt so horrible because I puked on myself more than once due to my boss's inconsiderate ways. The company was small so they ended up "letting me go" because of my morning sickness. It really sucked because I liked that job.

Now I'm living in Montana and I've only been here for a few weeks. I busted my butt trying to get a new job. Just had a job interview yesterday at Ross (clothing store) and they hired me. I go in today to fill out the paper work and for orientation. It was really hard to get this new job because people tend to look down upon us preggy girls (even though they are not supposed to and many of them won't say anything to your face bc they could get in trouble for discrimination!) it still happens regardless. I hope that you don't get fired or that you at least find a better job. Good luck on your pregnancy hun!

I was fired from Publix because I had to go throw up at least once an hour. I got a new, temporary job while pregnant that was during the night shift so the sickness wasn't so bad, and I was also 8 months. I got a job stocking for the Christmas holidays at the Disney store. You might want to try to be able to not work during the pregnancy if at all possible because a lot of times physical labor like that can cause preterm labor. I was lucky with mine, I was in school and worked 2 jobs, but my daughter still came 2 days late! Good luck

Yes. I was about 7 1/2 months pregnant when I was let go from a job. They had said there were complaints, but talking to my boss (who didn't do the firing) there weren't any. He was shocked that they let me go. I think they had to cut back on employees and I would be taking maternity leave soon anyway. I was more upset by the fact that they couldn't tell me the truth, but then again...if they had I could have sued. Technically they can't let you go because of your pregnancy, that doesn't mean that a company won't try to come up with a reason to do it anyway.

Finding a job after that was near impossible. No one wanted to hire someone so close to having a baby for a variety of reasons. Luckily, I collected unemployment and the unemployment center knew that I would have that problem. They were very patient with the situation.

Good luck.

I did! 15 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter. When I started the job I was not pregnant. Due to complications during the pregnancy I was not allowed to perform some of the duties of my job because the doctor said I could not. My boss fired me due to inability to perform the duties of my position. They probably wouldn't be able to get away with that now though. Depending on how far along you are, there may be some places that will hire you. It would also depend on the type of job you would be applying for etc. There are a lot of places that hire temporarily for the summer, I suppose you could fall back on one of those if you had to. Good Luck

That sucks... does your boss know you are pregnant? If they fire you because of morning sickness then they might be just using that as an excuse because they don't want to give you maternity leave or deal with the higher medical insurance premium, and that is highly illegal. They could be in for a huge lawsuit if they fire you so make sure you document everything! Yes, you can get hired when your pregnant (I did) but it is much more difficult. Make sure you hang onto insurance through Cobra if something does happen. Good luck.

I was fired from my job when I was pregnant with my third baby, after I had worked for the company for four years. I was unfairly fired and I fought it so I could at least draw unemployment. If it happens to you, apply for unemployment immediately. Also yes you can get a new job while pregnant. Employers are not supposed to discriminate against you just because you are pregnant. If you feel discriminated against, fight it! Your best bet though, would be to go talk to your current boss about what is happening. They may be more understanding than you think. You won't know for sure until you talk to them. But it's best if you go talk to them first, before they want to talk to you. There may be something they can work out with you while you are pregnant. Good luck.

If somebody refuses to hire you because you are pregnant that would be discrimination. If you missed too much time and was fired as long as the bosses treated everybody in the same way. If you are afraid that will happen to you, talk to your boss and see if something can be worked out, such as going on disability or reducing your work schedule

I worked at Waffle House as a waitress when I was 17 years old. I found out I was pregnant and had very bad morning sickness. I told my manager that I could no longer work the graveyard shift (7pm - 7am) because I spent the whole shift in the bathroom. She fired me for being sick.

This will all depend on your employment status (permanent or temp) in the company you are working for. Nevertheless, check with your HR dept. about the company's policy on pregnant employees. You may also want to check if the country you are residing at have laws protecting pregnant employees. It may also be good to schedule a meeting with your immediate supervisor or manager to tell him/her on what is happening with your condition. Talk about how you can work things out; ask if you can work from home or even take a late shift at work since you are having difficulty at this stage with your condition.

I'm not aware of any jobs available for pregnant women but in case you need to look for one, try looking for jobs that you can work from home like tele-marketing.

Be strong and know your rights! Take care.

you can ask your doctor to write you note.. to stay home rest for few days.. because of your morning sickness or your other sympton .. because when i was working last year.. i had to quit my job because i was so stress and there was not help and that people is not welling to help me. and next thing i know i had miscarriage last year And now i am expecting again so now my husband doesn't wanted me to work until my baby is born.. :) but that another job to take care of my baby.
he wanted me to be careful and not be stressful..
your work should understand that you have morning sickness or you can change the time of work. or you can take time off and depend how many weeks you are..
they can not fire you because you are pregnant. but you should talk to your manger or something..
