Each state's historical society will invariably have information on those volunteer units which they provided. For the regular units, do google searches for the individual units.

This is where wikipedia serves its purpose- you can use it as a starting point. But it should never be what you rely on. Search wiki for the Mexican-American war and look through their pages on the campaigns and pick out any units which are named.

Another way to do this is find the biggest, fattest book on it in the Library and look in the index for units and google those.

I tried to find you a detailed order of battle to serve as a starting point, but I was unable to find one.

Ulysses Grant and Robert E. Lee both served under General (and future president) Zachery Taylor in the Fourth Infantry Regiment according to Grant's "The Personal Memoirs of U. S. Grant" first published in 1885.
