Because people are brainwashed about the idea that you can overdose and its a harmful drug, police get a star for every marijuana bust and doctors want to be able to prescribe expensive dangerous drugs and the government cant make money from something that can be grown easy in your back yard or indoors but the facts are that its less harmful then alcohol and tobacco and has alot of good medical purposes, I use to smoke it occasionally and it helped my ashma, gave me better rest at night and for some reason I always wanted to clean after smoking.

i agree with u man. i am for legalising weed. the thing is i have made some research and marijuana is actually not adictive. smoking cigarettes is more acdictive and harmful that weed.

but because the government cannot have any control on weed as it can be easily grown and smoked on its own and that would lead a fall in the sales of cigarettes and hence a loss of the huge government tax and less income for the government. thats the main reason why they dont legalise it.

and also marijuana is not more of a drug as cigarettes. maybe it gives a nice feeling of well being and makes u trip and thats it.

booo to the government officials...

good question....if it were legal, it could be sold and taxed by the govt., who could then use those revenues to fight the real war on dangerous drugs. further the scrap from the cannibis plants can be used for a host of other things from paper to clothing. the reason it's not legal is because of paper, liquor, tobacco and textile producers have a lot of pull in government, and legaling marijuana would cut into the profits of all of those groups.

well u see its not legal because the government wants it all to there self's they don't want people like u and me running around blazed eating every thing in the world because then there would be world hunger and then that would be another prob that the gov would have to then deal with on top of that they wouldn't have any food for them to eat when they smoked see so we can't get high so that the gov can.

Because this "War on Drugs" is a huge source of revenue, and job security for the government.

I don't do drugs, never have. But I fail to see why a person cannot do with his or her body as they please. Why can't a person "smoke up" but can legally smoke cigarettes, or sniff gasoline. Why can't a person "sell their bodies" yet can go and race cars, jump out of planes, climb mountains or do other dangerous things? People can stuff themselves with unhealth food, or drink themselves (legally) to death.

I don't see any other motive behind this except control and revenue generation.

It must be something to do with money. There are a lot of reasons for the legalization, but, shallow reasons for keeping it illegal. Example; "It bad for you". Ha! Dang watch the drugs they advertise on TV, everyone ends with a list of things it "MAY" do as far as side effects! Same with "Mary Jane".

Because the government wouldn't be able to tax it.

because its a drug and its bad for you. the argument that its not worse than booze is just lame. booze is bad for you too why have another one legalized.
