The homeless and mentally deranged (through no fault of their own), will always represent a small segment of society. I suggest revamping our welfare system and helping those who truly do need it. Get rid of the deadbeats who are able to work and put their butts to work.
That will allow those who are truly incapable of making it to live their lives off of the public trough and our generosity.

Send them to Mexico, it works for the Mexicans (sending them to us).
Just kidding, I'm just irritated by this new immigration bill. The solution is easy, all you have to do is convince your fellow Americans to give up a few luxuries (tvs, computers, playstations, jewelry, ipods, etc.) and we can afford to give every homeless person in America a mansion. We spend hundreds of billions of dollars every year on luxuries that we don't need instead of our fellow man. Government, or a government program is not the answer. Changing the hearts and minds of your fellow man is the answer.

There are drug and alcohol rehabs, shelters, food banks available to the homeles but with limited resources. They need more funding to stay afloat.
Another problem is that the homeless have to admit that they want help.
Homeless families need that extra help with work/education programs.

Well first most actual homeless people are have mental problems... we need to make sure that they are being taken care of, being watched, being helped...they need to be in the care of someone- as it is.. anyone over 18 can make their own decisions, or you can't hold them against their will.. but if they have obviously mental problems that affect their way of thinking and it's so bad that they can't make it in society (hold jobs, find a place to live, etc) then they need to be held, or have a social worker or someone help them- we can't just turn our back on people because they are over 18

We could try the Mexican Solution. We encourage them to immigrate illegally to Mexico and give them some cursory training in evading the Mexican border patrol. Of course, the Mexicans would just kill them. Hey, that gives me an idea...

I know of several employers that keep apartments to help new and homeless employees. The rent covers the utilities.

Give them money to buy more wine. Give them welfare and free housing so they can join the ranks of the lazy breeders who live in houses and collect tax dollars for doing nothing. Steal the money from those of us who work like always.

Eat them. I hear they are a good source of protein.
Hey! It's better than eating prisoners; at least the homeless are free-range...

Many have mental health issues, let's have good standards of inpatient care for people with poor mental health.
Beyond that safe affordable housing is key. Section 8 is disappearing.
