If it's a single plot, you'll have a hard time getting rid of it. Many people purchase them in pairs at the very least.

The best course of action if you can't sell it, is to donate it to a charity of some sorts and get the tax deduction.

First of all how do you know it is not occupied? Then comes the part of the legal owner is the person on the deed. You need to contact the cemetery where the plot is located and find out where that person is. If they died and are buried there, end of story. If they are still living it is their property and you would be committing fraud and theft to dispose of it. All you have is a piece of paper with no legal right to do anything with it.

Are you a rightful heir to the plot? Because that will make a difference. If your are an heir, you will need death certificates of the previous owners, ie if Grandpa is original owner and he dies, his heir would now be the owner of the plot, assuming, naturally, that Grandpa isn't using it. he he. So, now let's assume you are his heir, you will need Grandpa's death certificate and proof that you are his heir to transfer the plot into your name, then you should be able to sell it. But if Grandma is his heir, she owns it, if Grandma has passed, her heir etc. if you fall in the list of heirs then you would need proof of heirship and death certificates of all previous heirs. But it would be wise to check if the plot is vacant before proceeding.

Finding a piece of paper does not make you owner of the property.

You can not sell something that you do not own.

Is it registered to you? You can't sell what you don't own just because you have a piece of paper.
