Generally speaking 3 teaspoons per gallon of water is a very reasonable brackish environment. Remember that sudden changes in the amount of salt in a tank is very stressful to the fish, so change the salt content slowly!

Fish that live in brackish water are adapted to changes in the salinity of their environment. I've seen Liberty Mollies in the sea gutters in Belize City where the salinity changes with the tides, the surf, and rain storms many times in a day. (Not that this is the way to manage a brackish tank, because fish in the wild have the option of going somewhere else.) The way to manage the salinity in a brackish tank is not by counting spoonfuls of salt, but by Specific Gravity, because evaporation will cause the concentration of salt to slowly increase and you won't know how much salt to add with each water change. The recommended Specific Gravity for brackish tanks can also vary with the species being kept. Go to a saltwater store and get an inexpensive Hydrometer and learn the right way to care for you fish. Pinning the Specific Gravity to one value is not as important as doing the changes slowly. Salinity can vary without harming the fish, but the change must be done properly.

Usually around 1/4- 3/4 cup of salt (Sea salt) to 5 gallons of water. Sometimes Higher. This will give you a Salinity of 1.01 NOT 3 teaspoons like the first poster stated. Also it doesnot stress the fish when you are bring the salinity up to where it needs to be.

Forget teaspoons here hun you need a cup to measure. Salt water is 2-4 Cups per 5 gallon

You need to mix the salt in a different container before putting it in your tank. Check they hydrometer before adding to your fish.

It's 1-2 teaspoons per gallon of water.
