So he isnt going to war? Are you surprised? Reason I asking is that his Uncles never actually went to war either, they were sent to falklands but was 500 miles from the war, I feel for the families of the killed soldiers who lot their sons over here in N Ireland who were prepared to fight,

Where did you get your information? Prince Andrew was a helicopter pilot during the Falklands war. The Falklands are islands off Argentina and were not 500 miles from the war. They were in fact, the objects of the war. Andrew served on a carrier and flew many missions into the Falklands, and served with distinction. I regret that I did not understand what you were trying to say regarding Northern Island.

Point noted.
Just consider what would have happened if he had been sent in Iraq. He would have been a "magnet" for every radical and terrorist wanting to get a "prize". That would have put all of his fellow soldiers in even greater danger.
To his credit Prince Harry publically stated early on that he wanted to go and serve in Iraq. But as a soldier - he is following the orders of his superiors.
As to Prince Andrew in the Falklands - I don't remember how close he was but he did fly a helicopter on missions so there was enough danger for him.

He WANTED to go. The Army bosses said "no".
Prince Andrew was a normal Royal Navy pilot and was in as much danger as any other helicopter pilot. However, the Falklands was a totally different conflict.
I'm not surprised especially after some Iraqi MPs said their groups would target him.

First of all, he wanted to go, but when it was realized that his presence would have a detrimental effect on his fellow troops, putting them in more danger, it was decided he would not go. It was done to protect our troops not to protect him.
As for sending Prince Andrew to the Falklands and it being 500 miles away? That makes absolutely no sense. 500 miles away from what exactly? The war was fought IN the Falklands and thats where he was deployed.
Check your facts.

I'm really not surprised. They have to know that he would be a target if he were over there, which would put not only him but his entire group at an incredible risk.

I am suprized that that young man like him, [with everything] to live for would be so bold as to sacrifice his own life just to bragg to his "cool" friends that he can shoot a machine gun better than i could, ten years before his time. However, i will admit that he "is" and will always be my dear brother, in whom i never had a chance to meet.
