There are a lot of industries that can use smart people, but most of them would not let you use your PhD.

An MBA might help, but you might want to talk to some adventure capitalists active in your field. (Check who has invested in some of the companies active in your industry).

They would be looking for the combination of industry knowledge and business sense.

In some countries like Germany and Japan, many businesses are run by engineers.

The way into business is to stay in Engineer but move into the business area. Engineering companies need sales people, managers and so on.

Especially if you go and do an MBA, your salary can be very high and you will be in high demand in engineering companies.

Your ability to get into the right job will depend on your previous work experience and your desire.

Many companies will give you a go, let you prove yourself. So you can just approach companies directly and tell them that you want this sort of work.

Don't try it through recruit agencies, as they will not be interested in you at all. They only want people that fit the job advert.

The long-term approach is to work in Engineering and then talk over a period of years, get more into the business side of the work. Probably the first business area would be project management or customer service roles.

Doing courses in project management, business planning and supervision can help you without going to the trouble and expense of an MBA.

no longer something in college is about memorizing. I advise, you'd be envisioned to study some fundamentals, yet as a rule this is about getting to draw close and using ideas. in case you want a more beneficial certain answer, you want to ask a more beneficial certain question. "what's it like?" might want to fill a e book. ok, this is glaring that shopper hasn't ever taken an engineering or workstation technology classification in his life. i will attempt to fantastic a number of his statements. Engineering instructions are not to any extent further about memorization and they are really no longer effortless. On regularly occurring, engineering majors have the bottom GPAs except physics majors. If all you recognize are formulation, you'd be fortunate to get a D on an engineering exam. even at the same time as a topic is formulation-depending, there will be diverse formulation and also you want to draw close lower than which assumptions a given formulation utilized. yet I had quite a few instructions the position there have been few to no formulation. One classification become almost depending round one unmarried formulation. basically memorizing it does no longer make a distinction in case you do not recognize the technique to remedy it. basically because something is defined mathematically would not advise the purely difficulty you may do with that's plug in numbers and get a unmarried numerical answer. and obviously, there are different grades than checks. Many engineering instructions would have initiatives, lab comments, and analyze papers. workstation technology is actual more beneficial precis that engineering. at the same time as more beneficial stepped ahead engineering instructions have a tendency to get into less demanding issues, CS is the different. the before instructions prepare you various the needed programming information at the same time as the better-factor instructions get into belongings you're not likely to run into in market like synthetic intelligence and the concept in the back of programming language progression. funding banking is an fairly demanding occupation. quite early contained in the occupation, you're envisioned to artwork fairly lengthy hours lower than intense rigidity. Many artwork as a lot as 100 and twenty hours a week. meaning operating an entire day on the weekends, no longer getting women people. in case you opt to artwork lengthy hours, develop right into a widespread practitioner. The pay is more beneficial ideal and the job receives more beneficial appreciate.

Ph.D engineering? You definitely want to look into Quantitative finance. Not regular finance, mind you, but the hard number field of finance. You are immune from competition against most MBAs since they are incapable of doing the higher level mathematics required in this area. I suggest you pick up some textbooks in this area and start reading up, see if that sparks your interest. A very high paying, rewarding, career choice.
