As delicately as possible, explain that you would like to keep your business life separate from your personal life. Given that, you would appreciate it if she only contacted you on your business line.

I think what is actually happening is that she is paging you. You sometimes when you call someone phone and then it say "press 5 if you would like to page this person" well when she presses 5 it send a text message to your phone with her phone number. So speak to your boss and let her know that whenever she does this it actually send a text message to your phone and that you have not budgeted for that extra cost in your plan, rather or not you have a text plan is irrelevant. She may not even be aware what is going on and when presented with the information will be more than happy to comply. You may also mention to her that you only keep your phone on (silent) so that you can receive calls from your husband or his employer in the event of an accident and tell her that every time that phone rings in the middle of the day it makes your heart race. Be forthcoming with the information and if you approach her on the subject cover all of your bases don't leave anything up for interpretation. But my best bet is my original thought that she doesn't even realize it is a text!!

This is a difficult situation. First you need to be very polite. Explain that your cell phone is only for emergency use eg your husband has an accident at work and you need to be reached. Ask your boss to either use office e-mail (if you have it) or call on the office phone or intercom to speak with you. If this continues you could ask your boss to reimburse you for all texts sent, but that should only be a last resort (but would probably stop the texts)

How comfortable are you with talking to your boss about either reimbursing all or a portion of your cell phone expenses, or else providing you with a company cell phone? I've had jobs where they required me to carry a cell phone, in exchange for which they reimbursed the monthly fees.
If she's not willing to do that, then ask her to please call you only on your home phone or office extension so that you can (a) keep the costs down on your cell phone and (b) keep your cell phone free for your husband to be able to contact you in case of emergency.
It's a reasonable request.

Just put a block on the text message plan for a few days. he will relaize that you turned it off. Then you can have it turned back on.
Used to work for a cell company and that was a common practive by the customer.

sit down and talk with her that the added text messages cost you money and you will no longer accept them or respond to them...but if they were to provide you with a pager or another phone that is company paid then that would solve the problem.....if not you can always use your cell bill from now on as a business deduction when you file your taxes seeing how it is now used for work purposes.

tell her the phone is only for personal calls never business related, nobody's job is more dangerous than my husbands, [in my opinion] he works around bombs, and I don't have a phone w/me all the time, people are addicted to phones.
