Derick Colman was selected number 1, 2 or 3 in the NBA draft. He was the most talented player in the draft. He relied on his genetics to play in the NBA and was usually overweight. He never practiced and most NBA players can only dream of having his talent. He was a nomadic NBA player for his whole career because he never came close to his potential. Could Lebron James be like Derick Colman?

I am not a Cavs fan, but his playoff performance last year was more impressive. He just seems to be relaxing in the playoffs this year.

No- Lebron is a star, a franchise leader, ambitious, has a strong work ethic and has his eyes on the prize every single year. This question displays good knowledge but the comparison doesn't really make any sense unless there is something about Lebron that I don't know about.

Are you kidding me? Do you watch basketball dude? LeBron is nothing like Derick Colman. LeBron is a leader through and through. He has crazy work ethic, and you can see all of his hard work come through in a game. He isn't overweight for his size at all, and LeBron improves ever year, look at the Cavs success compared to his first year and on. If you want to talk about LeBron possibly being the next somebody, look at his number and tell me what other superstar team leader wore #23.

No way!

Lebron is already one of the top 3 players in the league. D-Coleman never had that kind of status.

Coleman only made one all-star game appearance. Lebron has already beaten that (3), and added an MVP of the game.

The Cavaliers have improved every year in win totals since James' arrival, something that cannot be said of the Nets.

The Cavs are a legitimate contender in the east, and a much more respected team that pre-James.

Coleman NEVER had that effect on any of the 4 teams he played for. (Nets, Sixers, Hornets, Sixers again, Pistons)

So I would definatley say no. Unless something drastic happens, James will be a force for a long time.

The second Derrick Coleman stepped off the court at Syracuse University into the NBA, he was billed as the next superstar. Coleman along with his teammate Dwayne "Pearl" Washington were star celebs at the 'Cuse, only Coleman lived up slightly to his potential. As far as Lebron James falling into the could-be syndrome, he's already established as one of the best in the NBA. James was smart and decided to skip college and go right into the NBA. That helped him mature a lot more quicker. Coleman never really matured as a person and that ended up hurting his NBA career although he was an All Star a few times.

I can see the comparison, but I don't think so. Lebron is so good that is doesn't seem like he plays hard. I think his ego is getting a bit too large, too where he feels he doesn't need to improve but his team does. Lebron is a leader and will always carry all of the critism or praise his team recevies, while Coleman never even stepped up to the plate.

how dare you compare Lebron James to a fat sloth... Lebron has proven himself already to everyone that he has the heart for the game. He gives everything he has during every game. I can't say the same for Derrick Coleman.

nope. i think lebron is trying hard to get to the finals. the way he's playing right now has room for improvement. he's still very young and can be better.
