I read in the paper that they did a survey in mainland Europe and apparentely everyone thinks we're binge drinking violent slags, obsessed with money, consumerism and TV make over shows.

The problem we have is that most Europeans only see British people in holiday mode, so they presume that Brits are like that all the time. I live on a Greek Island and i see things that make me ashamed to be British sometimes (people having sex in the street, girls getting their baps out for anyone and everyone and blokes flashing their danglies)

Despite all this though, I wouldn't say that everyone thinks that Brits are how you described above, without the Brits many holiday resorts would collapse, so really they need them!! Most people I know just laugh when they see a group of drunk youngsters as they mean no harm, now and again they are slagged off but it doesn't happen that often. I just wish everyone would respect the country they are holidaying in, and the local people and traditions a bit more.

Thank you for pointing out the difference between the English and the Europeans. As an English person I detest being called European and so do most of my friends. There is more to the reason we kept our currency than meets the eye.

Quick reference guide.

People from UK speak English
Europeans are foreigners and have a hundred languages.

We may have invented the football hooligan, but the Europeans have taken the idea and improved on it greatly. The Italians are current champs I think. But for trashy slags and binge drinking ugly tourists WE WIN!

I'm English and i know that a significant proportion of my fellow countrymen ARE 'binge drinking violent slags, obsessed with money, consumerism, and TV make over shows'
Go to any European resort or major city and you'll be able to spot the English, they'll be the pissed ones singing xenophobic songs and dropping their pants. being rude to people who don't speak their language etc...
Could you imagine how the English would react if hoards of Spanish or french or German people came to the UK for their holidays and acted like 'we' do in their countries? there would be absolute carnage.
Just imagine for one minute... a dozen Germans blokes on a stag night getting hammered and loud in a UK provincial city pub on a normal Saturday night? how long do you think it would be before the Germans were severely attacked??
Get my point?

hahahahahaha! what nonsense. I perceive the English as generally well educated, full of humour, the entire nation loves or knows about gardening and you lilke protocol and neat and tidy. Yes you do also have some hooligans, but hey, we in Holland have those too.... besides, you have got the most beautiful nature. No I just wish I could visit England right now... I would go see all those wonderful gardens....Wisley and so on... :)
