Here are a few thoughts:
1) All the matter of the universe was condensed in a small ball since
the beginning of time until it exploded in the big bang.
2) The big bang has happened many (possibly infinitely) many times.
The universe expands after the big bang and eventually gravity pulls
everything back in to the center... some time after everything has
returned, the bang happens again.
3) God created the big bang, so the universe did not exist before that.
4) There was no physical matter at some point in time, only energy
fluxuations. At some point this energy begand to transition to matter
that was attracted to the other matter that was created (due to
gravity) until the matter became too massive to contain itself and
BANG.

Big Bang theory is a creation theory about how the Universe came about. It starts with a premise based on an assumed singularity called a premordial mass. The Density of this mass being the size of a golf ball was calculated from Einstein's Field equation(this equation is based on an abstract geometry called a manifold of spacetime.
The Theory makes no mention how the premordial mass formed or what was surrounding it before its existence.
To go beyound these premises would only speculate how Our Creator of the Universe mysteries are to be deciphered.
The Biblical record of Creation does not give scientific specific details concerning the construction of mass structures. However the first verse of Genesis indicates that the substance of space and substance of mass structures were not two mutually exclusive entities.
This is where the puzzle of Creation becomes a riddle in the Big Bang theory. As far as can be speculated there may have been a series of trillions of Little Bangs all occuring at the same time.If this was the case mass construction could have taken place at an extremely short time. The formation rate would have been an inverse time dilation. That means that events could have occured at a rate exceeding the speed of light as we know it by many multilple folds.
The Universe can be conceived as analogus to a Clock that was wound using a very short time, and now that clock is unwinding very slowly in time but surely. And Humans observe every tick.

A singularity. It is speculated all the mass of the universe was compacted (crunched) into a singularity caused by a massive black hole or gravity well.
The post above mine covers at least 4 methods of thought on the ways and means of the bang, itself, except science doesn't buy into the God theory even though Big Bang was postulated by a Catholic Priest with proofs confirmed by two other scientists who had the same math, Hubble who saw the spectral shift showing things are moving away and Bell Labs which found the Gamma Ray signature of 3.6 Kelvin at the outer edges of the universe.

there was just plain nothingness there,, humans can not fathom what nothingness would look like because if you could look and see nothingness that would be something,, think about it for a minute,, you just cant fathom what nothiness looks like,,

There was absolutely nothing.
No time, matter, or energy.
Nothing, zip, nada.
