No. Another old wives tale. I was late with all 3 of mine.

What is true is that usually 2nd babies will have a shorter labor, because your uterus and cervix have been through it before and they work together more efficiently.

It's not true... no matter if it's your second ,third or even fourth... it's a case to case basis, different for every one, but i think the reason why this myth went around was because of the fact that labor would be much more easier to go through since your body has adapted to the changes of delivery since it has already experienced it before... My advise is you should go to your doctor right away.. just to be sure to check if you might have any problem that could cause a complication when you're giving birth....
Godbless... and Congratulations in advance with your second angel....=)

My two babies were both born two weeks early. I never heard that the secod babies come earlier than the first. However, the second delivery is normally easier than the first. With my oldest daughter I was in labor for about eight hours-2 of those were hard labor. With my second daughter I was in labor for only a couple of hours. My contractions were no closer than three minutes apart and the doctor said I was ready to start pushing. About three good pushes she was out. No hard labor this time.

My 1st born was bang on time and with my 2nd he came 1 day early, i had very quick and easy labours with both of them, with both lasting only around 1 1/2 hours from the first contraction.
With my 2nd pregnancy i too felt him pushing down and had cramping down below whilst walking and sitting down and he was born just 2days later so maybe you are getting ready to deliver.

Good luck

Not true I'm afraid, there is a 50/50 chance of baby being either early or late!

My first was 3 days late, and I'm now pregnant with my 2nd and she's really holding on in there, I'm 41 weeks and 2 days and being induced on Monday!!

I hope it goes OK and maybe he'll be kind and be a bit early!!?? Unfortunately, you never know!

(Mine dropped at 36 weeks, then I went into hospital with regular contractions at 37 weeks, and I STILL haven't had her - lol)

*Mummy to Alex, 5, and Encarni, being induced Monday*

My second came right on time, the exact date she was due, but - I will say my wife said the second delivery was easier and less painful. We're about to have number 3 at the end of July! Good luck to you and congratulations.

My 1st child was 2 weeks late. My 2nd child was 2 weeks early. So in my case it was true.

I hope that's not true! My first baby was 4 weeks early... I want this one to stay in there for at least as long just for her sake!

Each pregnancy is different. It isn't necessarily true that second babies come earlier, but you can't judge this pregnancy by the next one.
Good luck!
