i dont get irritated when i shave...but its hell when stubble grows back...the itch is horrendous....on the other hand i hate having a jungle...its just unhygienic and looks like a bearded sailor...so i trim every week and shave every 2 weeks but i don't shave everything...i leave a little triangle on top and just trim tht part short and shave everything else...i hate the bald look...i mean, i'm not a little girl...lol...
one tip...mild baby powder after shaving helps with irritation or itching...and hair doesn't grow back too fast!

I hate shaving down there too. I get ingrown hairs so badly, even when I'm shaving in the right direction. It's just as unsightly as being hairy!!
I started getting Brazilian waxes too, and they're really not as painful as you think. The first time is usually the worst because you're not used to it, but every time you go it gets easier and easier. If you're comfortable being naked from the waist down with someone else, it's a nice alternative and I'd definitely recommend it. When I moved, I didn't want to just walk into a place I wasn't familiar with, so I looked for another alternative.
Now I use a Veet product once a week. It's like a dipilitory cream, but it's safe to use on yourself down there. No pain, nice and easy... Stick it on before you shower, take it off in the shower 3-5 mins later. You get regrowth a little sooner than you do with waxing, but I've never had a problem with getting itchy, or ingrown hairs. I use lotion after I do it too, and you'll be nice and smooth. It's the cheapest, most painless way I've found to do it without any unwanted side effects.
It's fun being a girl, huh? :)

I use electric styling trimmers with the 1/8 inch guide. You get an almost close shave without the irritation and stubble.

I think that the irritation is worse from when it starts to grow back. But they do make helpful lotions in order to combat this problem. I would recommend trimming more then shaving it completely and it also depends on the type of razor or trimmers that you use. But it is always important to moisturize the skin afterwards

I shave "down below" about every 3 days.... the stubble can be irritating but it depends more on what kind of panties you wear. If you are getting irritated by the shaving its self your not using a good razor... it should slide across your skin and not bother it.. try Schick INTUITION... I love it for shaving below... smooth silky and moisturized!!

I don't get much irritation, but then i just have a quick once over whenever i have a bath to avoid the stubble.
I am not bothered about being thought unnattractive for having hair down there, in my experience men are so delighted to have access to a real live vagina that they are not worried whether it is shaved or not! I do it because it makes menstruation so much less traumatic when you don't have to worry about pubes getting stuck to sanitary towels!

For me, I shave everyday down there, but If I go a while without shaving, then shave my skin gets irritated. I think the more you shave, your skin gets used to it or something and eventually you will not get razor bumps anymore.

You have to have a really good razor. I use the "Venus" or "Mach 3" razor and change the blade frequently. You have to shave in the direction that the hair grows as opposed to against the growth. Use a good shave cream too. Here's one that I like.......

As far as how often. It's like your legs and underarms. Daily is good but sometimes we're lazy, right?
IKeep this stuff around for occasional razor rash (maybe from needing to change your blade). I just always keep it in my cabinet..........

It shouldn't be irritating if you shave in the direction of the hair growth, if you shave against the growth then it itches sooooooo bad, and scratching yourself there is not a good look!!!

I tried shaving and got tired of the nicks and rash.
Now, I'd rather pay for a "Brazilian waxing".
It can be a little more painful during the process but it looks gret and I get no complaints, if you get my meaning!
