If rape was not illegal because someone needs to rape another person, then theft and even murder could be justified on that basis. Rape implies that someone does something to you against your will, a violation of your person, a violation of your rights, so in any developed society that should and is against the law.

The vast majority of crimes are wrong simply because society says so rather than them being "evil unto themselves", It is conceivable that a society could exist where rape was an acceptable, if the procreation of the species were to become imperative. Rape has been thought to be a biological mechanism to propagate genetic material which would not normally successfully pass to offspring. In my opinion, the nature of the modern democratic, free market economies we live in and any corollary values aggravate the incidence of such offences. The offence of rape might well today be thought to be a rather extreme species of theft more so than a crime against the person.

Any form of sexual assault is wrong. That's all it is - assault. Sexual assault can make it very difficult for the victim to get close to others afterwards.
There is the physical damage done to the victim, the tearing of the tissue in whatever orifice the rapist used, the other physical damage caused by the victim being held down.
There is the sense of anger and disbelief that someone would inflict their person on you in such an intimate way when you don't want it. It's the worst violation ...
There is the self-hate that comes afterwards, that you let yourself get into this situation, that you didn't see it coming. And also the people who love you, they feel angry and helpless because they couldn't help you when you needed their help.
There is the horrible confusion that in some way you brought this on yourself, because you mistakenly trusted someone who all the time was planning to violate you. Or someone.
No, rape is wrong. Absolutely wrong. Any form of sexual assault or molestation is an abomination.

It is very wrong. No one should ever be forced to do something they don't feel is in their best interest. The worst situation would be if a child were to come out of it; especially if the victim was under the age of fourteen. I actually feel worst for men that it happens to because if they complain, they are simply laughed at for not being able to fight off the attacker. For that instant, they feel exactly how a woman does. It's not so much the act, but the after affect that some live with or some choose not to live with and take their own life.

I have read your question and additional comments carefully to see if there are any redeeming features therein, as I suspected there aren't.
Whilst agreeing some of the excellent suggestions for methods by which you could try it yourself to enable your single cell brain to work out whether this most despicable form of invasive abuse is right or wrong, I have to say that even a moron deserves better.
I suggest you give your brain cell some excersise and consider more demanding issues like, were you born stupid and unthinking or did you have to practice, will your brain cell ever self multiply, how can you be so wrong, good luck!

Not only society, butme as a woman says so. Why would you post a question like this are you a rapist? Do you just want to get people Riled up? What isnt wrong about it. A person is forced against there will by a person whom is stronger than them, to do things that are a complete Violation of there body and phsyce(however you spell it) and it degrades them and humiliates them. They feel shame as if they did something wrong, and they may not ever get over it, dreams and flashbacks may haunt them forever. A child who is raped has a entire life ahead of them knowing there is evil in the world, and dealing with a shame that noone should ever feel. Its not just a crime of physical force, but of mental torture!!! So I guess you succeeded in Makeing people upset, they say what comes around goes around..........

It's a violent act. It's wrong in the same way that stabbing someone with a knife is wrong.
In terms of "is it really wrong", the very word "wrong" is a social norm. Right and wrong aren't things that are pre-defined by humanity, they are taught to us as we grow up in society. In a society were rape is acceptable (and I can only think of 1 country in the present day), then it obviously isn't "wrong".
Right and wrong are established by societies as a means of creating some sort of order out of what would otherwise be anarchy. Some concepts of "wrongs" are as old as civilisation itself (eg wanton killing). Other "wrongs" were developed as society matured, such as the idea of it being wrong to fart at the dinner table.
So rape is wrong in that if everyone went around raping people whenever they felt like it, society would be worse off.

thinking its okay to rape some one or something is a huge mental disorder the human race has.
People have been raped.
The earth has been raped.
The universe has been raped.
Life goes on..you could argue that it isnt wrong but that would just start a downward spiral effect. Once you accept a weakness as being a whole truth you are in denial and on a collision course of destruction.
No one is holding a gun to your head telling you to do it, but even if they were would you have enough courage to bite the bullet?
hope that helps you understand.

Of course rape is wrong. There can be no justification for genuine rape, ever.
However I think it is just as wrong for women to 'cry rape' as a way of getting attention (media or otherwise) or to get revenge on someone.
There have been many reported cases of men (many of them famous) being accused of rape by a woman who then later drops the charges of even admits making them up.
Recent example is a Taxi driver in Leeds who was accused by a female passenger. His face was plastered accross all the papers and news and his life turned upside down. She later admitted that she lied, yet her name was never released leaving the man to put back his shattered life while she remained anonymous.
I believe that women who play the rape card (and there are many of them) insult real victims of rape as well as the men they accuse and that there should be much tougher penalties for this 'crime' incl naming and shaming.

If you need to ask the question there is something not working properly in your head. Rape is one of the most vile crimes you can commit against another human being and I include both men and women. In my opinion a man who rapes a woman should be made to do his time in a woman's prison and made to mix with the rest of the inmates. A man who rapes a man? Well I am sure somebody in a male prison would, "Show him a good time". A woman who rapes a man? I'm still trying to find one.
