I am looking for stats to back up a press release I'm writing for a client. I already run my own successful business. My client has just celebrated his 6th year in business so wanted stats for that - thanks x

If you want the stats for a report, I can't help you. If you're considering starting a business, I can tell you the statistics themselves are meaningless.

You already know all you need to know about the numbers. You know that some fail, and some succeed. The real question is what determines which fate is in store for a startup, and the answer to that is not found in the numbers.

Are you looking for this info for a report you're writing, or do you want it to see if it makes sense for you to go into business? If it's for the latter, the stats are meaningless. Most people who start businesses don't really have a clue. Most people start businesses as a part time hobby, and these rarely work out.

It's about the same as in the U.S.... roughly 80 percent of ALL new businesses fail in the first 3 years.
