I would ask the police.

'As the situation currently stands, are the McCanns likely to face charges. If so, when?'

'Can you clarify the times the McCanns did check on their children as at the moment it ranges from anything from half an hour to an hour or more'

'Can you clarify the distance between the apartment and the restaurant they were in. According to the Aunt it was less than 40 yards which is CLEARLY incorrect.'

'Can you state where they were sitting in the restaurant that night and did they have an unobstructed view of both the apartment and the pool in case Madeleine got up and wandered off and fell into the pool.'

'Who was the last person to see Madeleine alive besides the McCanns?'

'Did Madeleine ever meet Robert Murat before her disappearance?' - I heard somewhere that she may have and that might have made it easier for him to kidnap her if she thought he was a friendly face and trusted him enough to walk off with him, perhaps under the guise of finding her parents

Then I would ask the family:

'Why was the fund set up in Madeleine's name a registered company and not a charity thereby giving them much freer access to the funds and what they do with it'

'Are the transactions made by the funds going to be made public for transparency. If not, why? Im sure a lot of people wouldnt be happy if they were flying out their sisters and brothers for a weeks holiday out in Portugal at the expense of the general public under the guise of "providing support" '

'Will any of the money raised for the fund be used in funding any defence counsel that the McCanns may require for future proceedings?'

Billy - You would make the worst detective in the world. Lets ignore an entire line of enquiry lest we upset someone. The day they let Maddy down and neglected their duties is the day they forfeited their right to have public sorrow.

I agree with you 100% on this.

Yes, there will be a time later where we can ask certain questions directly to the McCanns but some of these can easily be asked now without affecting the search at all.

Your seeing what many of us are, a strange situation where journalists would be ripping into the police for answers during the press conferences if it was here in the UK but all the questions are very limp wristed.
Asking them to clarify these few points during all these press conterences when they have absolutely NOTHING to tell us seems a fair call.
The top police chiefs are there to answer questions, so why are the journo's repeatedly asking the same questions which they wont answer ?

I can see that certain facts about the McCanns restaurant dinner would be with held back so not to lose any of the publics sympathy, it is pretty obvious they made a huge mistake and will pay the price even if they get her back alive and well.

Money has been pledged to help fund the search of Madeleine, to pay for private detectives, posters, etc , etc and certainly not to pay for relatives to be flown out to Portugal.

The McCanns are a wealthy couple and could easily have afforded a baby sitter or even a nanny. This will be a thought that crosses their mind Evey day and although nobody seems to be saying this to them, they must be thinking it.

If the McCanns were from a lower social group in society, they would have been hung, drawn and quartered in the press as a socially unacceptable pair of parents who should not be allowed to have children. (We have seen this before when parents have gone off on holiday and left their children behind)

The children would have all been seriously injured or killed had there been a fire in the apartment. By the time they had seen the smoke it would have been too late.

I think they are being punished enough with the uncertainty of what has been done to the poor child since she was taken. I hope that the mcCanns truly treasure their twins now and appreciate how lucky they are to have children.

One hundred percent right Dave. It is now over 2 weeks since the little girl disappeared and about time that someone asked these questions. People's main concern should be for Madeleine and not for the feelings of her rather strange parents. Journalists haven't thought twice about character assassination of the two 'witnesses' in this case so they are well overdue in channelling their enquiries in a different direction.
If the McCanns have lied and the police have got to look at a different time scale they may be able to gather evidence against either 'suspect'. On the other hand, it could completely clear them, in which case I hope they will not think twice about sueing.

The only people who know the truth about the times of checking the children and all that stuff is the parents and right now all they can rightly think of is their daughter and hopefully her safe return to her family don't forget that they are victims as well as their daughter and they need support through there hard time,It was wrong that the children were left on there own but now everything should be done to find Maddie regardless of the out come the parents are not bad people ,you can't expect bad things to happen while on holiday everyone has a good time and then goes home ,no one expected this and it's a good thing that there has been a fund set up for the family as they need their own family around them at this time and they will not be sitting in the sun all day having drinks and laughing and joking they will be trying to get some help for the parents.

The police can only investigate using the known facts,as this case is opening up discrepancies in the initial statements given the the police will want to know what really happened that evening,,,They will probably be very annoyed at all the new evidence withheld for some 2 weeks now, what more is to be reveeled?
The charity set up for the Asian tsunami took just 2 days to get underway,We thought we had lost our daughter in that terrible event as she was out there at the time but had decided to stay up coast and was out of range for her mobile for 4 days..So we know what it is like,
But to withhold these pieces of information to try to look good in the eyes of the police and to gleen money and sympathy from the UK public is despicable

what's this to you? YOuR child is not missing, noone is blaming you, you did nothing wrong. You're thinking to much about this...why can't you think of all this AFTER she has been found? Too many people spend time bitching on here about this case then actually going out and doing something about it. Go to Portugal, ask her parents these questions, go pester the police, go off your fat a'rse and stop hiding behind a computer bitching. If you haven't got the guts to do this then I suggest you don't take part in the argument (of which i state AGAIN there should be none until this poor girl is found). Most people are getting too caught up in the politics and forgetting there still is a young defenseless child missing.

Yes her parents made some awful mistakes, the consequences of which they are feeling now and will continue to do so for the rest of their lives, but who are YOU to judge and sound all high and mighty when all YOU are doing is sitting behind a computer and not actively helping

Oh and does everyone here only read the redtops? I can't believe someone posted a link to a tabloid as if this link was fact.

interesting to find that there is no law concerning unattended minors in portugal.
and someone else raised the point that maybe the mcCanns bank account should be investigated.
the way the whole situation is panning out, with the plc fund and still no real story of events etc, i'm beginning to think of them as less stupid and more cruel and calculating than i had given them credit for.

Well said,
I hope they do find maddy,
But The McCann's and the press seen to have forgotten to mention the fact that the McCann's not only left maddy but also her younger brother and sister alone, they wouldn't be in this position if they had been responsible parents,

;-)

You are so right there. i did not know Murat may have met her but it is certainly worth thinking about.
He is lying I think as he denies talking to serge but phone records show they spoke twice afterwards, weird.
I know that tapas bar was further away than is being reported, its obvious and look at that pool in between!
There are so many untruths - and strange that some are coming from the Mc Canns. Why?
I suppose they need to cover up what they did wrong. First instincts to Doctors eh?

hi heres my theory children going missing and never seen again happens but never usually gets this amount of news coverage because portugal is so close to morocco the child could have been sold into slavery over there robert was the look out to find blonde child and sergy was the one to arrange boat travel for the child i would be looking at there bank accounts to see if they got paid . if the child is in tangier the campaign in europe wont bring any clues and this will be a case of never found child i predict the next move for the potusese police is to search the cavity under the floor at casa lilianna
