I did a search for free anti virus, and saw many sites offering this, but I know there must be a catch. Does anyone know a site with minimum strings attached. I noticed Google had one, but they have a lot of stuff attached that I dont really want or need, and would only be taking up space.
Thanks, Wayne

AVG www.grisoft.com has been protecting my pc for years. It's great and doesn't waste space or provide extra spam.

There's 1 Major problem with FREE AV programs.
They don't update their definitions files like a Paid program does, nor do they offer as good protection as a paid program...
I've had many friends think that AVG was the greatest program in the world UNTIL a bad virus got into their system and destroyed it!
I use Kaspersky Internet Security v6...It updates every hour on the hour 24/7. I've Never got anything on my computer using Kaspersky.

I've used AVG Free for years and have been very happy with it.

TIP: You must remove all other Anti-virus programs before using ANY new Anti-virus program.

Hiya Wayne, If Its free av from avg or the rest its all the same all you get is a pretty icon to look at, and you become a free tester of their products thats why they always ask for feedback.

I have found these two programs to be very useful with this issue.

AVG- Anti Virus

and

ZoneAlarm Protections

Both program are free of cost and frustration. Very simple to download with no strings. These will work simultaneously.

I have used Avast for quite a while. Since installing it I have not had any virus issues and the only "string" is you have to re-register every year.
