Happy Days was used as a launching pad for three sit coms. The first being Laverne and Shirley, who were semi regular guests until their show began. Then for some unknown reason they chose Happy Days to showcase the onset of Mork and Mindy, which was set neither in the 50's nor in Milwaukee. The third series that Happy Days spawned was Joanie Loves Chachi.

I am guessing it was Laverne and Shirley. I can't remember the circumstances for them on Happy Days. I think Fonz knew Laverne and she needed a date for Shirley so they set Shirley up with Ritchie.

Fonz set richie up on a double date with laverne and shirley. in fact, shirley was not as innocent as she appeared later on in the laverne and shirley show. another crossover show that premiered on happy days was mork and mindy.

Mork & Mindy was also a very popular spin off. Mork was introduced in an episode where he threatened to take Ritchie back to Ork as an example of a human, but his plan was foiled by Fonzie.
