Definitely. They have a whole bunch of amazingly talented young position players (Jackson, Montero, Drew, Young, Quentin, Hairston) who are guided by veterans such as Tony Clark and Eric Byrnes. The bullpen is similarly young and talented, and the starting rotation has three proven veterans in Randy Johnson, Doug Davis and Livan Hernandez and is led by Brandon Webb who will only get better. The NL West is tight as usual and the Dbacks should emerge as the season goes on. They have as good a chance as anyone else this year and the next few.

The best thing they have going is that all the teams are about even in the NL west. If they can sneak in and win the division they have a good chance to go to the world series because of their pitching. Over a long season they might not be the best but in a short series they can throw that good pitching at you.

I don't see that they will any time soon. However, I don't know what "soon" means to you. Maybe in 5-6 years, but not right away.
