Look for the key at the top right hand corner of the keyboard marked Num Lk. Press it and the light with the padlock logo with the number "9" in it should go out. The keyboard will return back to letters mode. Don't press the Fn key because Fn+Num lk is Scroll lock which is entirely different.

It seems you turned on the Numeric keypad on the laptop. If you observe carefully, the letters U,I,O,P and below these keys there are small numbers on them.
To turn this off, look on the laptop keyboard on the top keys (F1, F2.. F12) right at the top of the keyboard. One of these keys may have a little picture of a Numeric keypad. Press the FN key and that key. Your keyboard will return back to normal

Press "fn" and then "Num Lk". The Num lock key should be near the top of the keys on the right hand side on to your extreme right.

ok you've got the fn lock on, so try pressing numlock or the fn button, then when you figured it works, the reason is that the fn button makes it easier for people to type in numbers.

Read the laptop User Manual.
Most laptops use special keys to toggle between different modes.
