Yes this can be repaired. you can go to any autobodyshop and have this appraised to see what the cost would be but do remember that prices will very with different shops due to different brands of paint. Also different shops do different paint jobs some good some bad ! So always try and shop around till you find one that best suits your price range.

Check with local salvage yards to get the hood and trunk lid in the same color as the car as long as the paint is good on those panels and can be buffed out--they can search other yards sometimes, too. That way, you only have to paint the roof or maybe have a vinyl roof installed...may be cheaper. Problem is a poor quality primer on many cars for a certain era that degraded and delaminated under sunlight and you may have other panels which will start doing this also like the tops of fenders and doors...was a major quiet recall issue with most of the car companies. They were extending the warranty to original owner's for a while but I believe that is over.

It's probably not worth it. Sounds like it is in multiple areas of your car, so would be spending at least $1200. You will have to have the affected areas stripped and repainted. Unless your car has a high value, it is probably not worth the cost. But if you do end up doing it, maybe you could just repaint the whole thing and get a custom paint job while you are at it!

I do autobody repair. We see this in the shop on occasion and I always dread working on it.There is no way to minimize the work that is needed.Even when attempting to sand a small area, the adjoining areas peel.We usually try to strip the finish to the factory primer by using razor blades if possible to avoid going to the metal.Cost is probably around $300 per panel to refinish.

Has to be completely stripped down to metal and painted all over again. The paint process when it was done was botched.
