We live in a quiet, safe suburban neighborhood. Recently an odd family moved in next door to us. Last night there were police cars at their house. Is there any way to find out why they were there?

I am not being nosey- Police cars in our neighborhood are very unusual, and I really want to know if I should worry about my family.

Thanks.

If you went to the police and told them your concerns about them being in the neighborhood they might tell you, but I am sure it would only be information that would be public knowledge anyway like a registered sex offender or something of that nature.....and if your not satisfied with that...well make a casual conversation with your neighbor stating concern for them like...omg I seen the police at your house the other day, I hope it wasn't anything serious and that your family is ok......

Knock on their door and say "hello my name is whatever and i am your neighbour. Welcome to wherever. I saw the police were here yesterday I hope you are OK. I thought you might have been burgled or attacked as there have been a few odd characters spotted in the neighbourhood over the last few days. Would you like to go for coffee and a bun at the cafe" There is no point sneaking about get to know your neighbours then you will know where you stand.

Ask the other neighbors I am sure someone knows by now. Or by a police scanner so you will know the next time.

Call and ask. Tell them there was a disturbance and you are concerned. IF there was an issue, it's going to be printed in the police report eventually anyway.

Ask them or don'y worry about it unless there is a police notice telling you to watch out for them.

Do you have a police scanner?? Short of that, you need to ask them! Be prepared to be told it is none of your business!

Ask your neighbor - it might allow you to meet some of them
