Something about the field trip might be bothering him, or worried about going somewhere other than school, could be anything, I think you may need to set down with him at times like this and see if you can figure out what is troubling him.

he might not get ready for school because he may not like the field trip or may not want to go to it. If they needed chaperones maybe he might of wanted you to go with him. just try to talk to him and figure it out in a way that wont upset him.

if they are anything like school trips when i was a kid, who can blame him, same old historical landmark, thats 10 minutes from the school and we passed everyday to get there!!
so many millions of wonderful things to see nearby and we ALWAYS went to the same bloomin thing

You are the adult - tell him if he is not ready to go in 5 minutes that he will have to go in his pajamas. You can make him get in the car in his PJ's and see if that changes his tune. Remember you are the adult. You have to lay down the law or you will have this fight every morning.
