We suffer from the same problem, and it's almost impossible to protect chickens from foxes because they are so persistent. Dogs are no good because a fox is so nasty, shooting takes a steady hand because they are so tough.
I would suggest speaking to a gamekeeper on a local shoot/reserve and see what the suggest.

A lot of patience will be needed if you intend to wait up at night to shoot the fox. I do not like poisoning as this is a danger to other livestock and wildlife. Some old boys are able to 'call' foxes at night by emulating the cry of a distressed rabbit. These chaps normally kill foxes with rifles so ask the farmers if there is such a person in your area.

A live trap. you can buy them at a feed store in all sizes. then bait it with a dead chicken or meat. The fox will take the easier meal. After you catch it, through the whole cage in a barrel of water for 15 minutes. I know he won't hold his breath that long. Then you can remove the critter and dispose it how ever you wish. I get rid of skunks, raccoons, and fox this way. The skunks don't even give off a smell.

First make sure its legal to kill them there most states have seasons to hunt them
Get a 12 guage shotgun with number 4 high brass loads, and get a rabbit in distress call. Camo up from head to toe and get hid somewhere near the area you think the fox is. keep your movement to a minimum
About an hour before dark start blowing on the call he should come in from the downwind side or possibly even come running towards you.
Have patience if you dont kill him the first time try again, And there is probably more than one fox in the area so dont quit hunting them even after you think you have the problem fox
Predator hunting can be challenging and exciting especially when a fox or coyote runs right up to ya.

Fox are predator vermin.
Shoot them and hang their stinking carcasses from a tree to warn off others. You should know they usually travel in pairs and there may be kits nearby.
Once they taste your chickens, they will be back for more again and again until you solve the infestation.
I live in a surburban area and they show up every so often and pet cats and Yorkshire Terriers get killed.

Live wires on metal plate with cat food as bait. Flick the on switch when fox takes the bait.
You can also insert laburnum seeds or fine broken glass particles in the cat food. This one is hit and miss.
Preference is to take out the vixens rather than the dogs.

I just wanted to say because someone suggested "humane" way of removing it, unless you get the fox deported(to another country) it will keep comming back, I'd reccomend using a 12 gauge and a spade to finish the job. obviously these arent availible to the majority of the public so your in a tricky spot. I feel for you because I've seen a frenzied fox in full flight before, they just keep killing till there is nothing left but them, then they take 1 chicken and eat it.
Good Luck

High power, large caliber rifles. Remember though, any rifle that has a muzzle velocity of over 200 metres per second requires a license.

For those who say to check first if it is legal to kill a fox, I say nonsense, because you should have all the right to kill or dispose any animal invading your property!
