Look at his % totals A player that has just started and never misses a shot would be a while catching the # 1 all time
Different deal but how long will it take the young hotshots of Nascar to catch Richard Petty's Record of 200 wins
The best aint always first

Let me first say that I'm not an authority on snooker, but from the matches I've watched and the books I've read, I have to say that Hendry is still a better all-around player than Ronnie. Ronnie is a huge natural talent and time will tell if he has the staying power of a Hendry or a Davis. I just feel that Hendry is more disciplined, more of a true student of the game. This is purely my opinion. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

stephen hendryand steve davis earned more titles but that's just because they're elder. ronnie though is close to hendry's achievments and he's only 31. so probably will beat hendry soon. I think ronnie is best. he has to put his mind into snooker though :) The Rocket Rules! No doubt davis and hendry were good, but age is saying the word here. Ronnie's still got time to reach both of them.

You did say 'ever'. So, surely, that's gotta be Joe Davis. He won the World Title like 12 years on the trot. However in today's tougher modern game, Stephen Hendry is still the best in the business.

I hate to say it but the best is Ronnie O'Sullivan. He's not the most accompolished, that's Hendry by a mile. If Ronnie wasn't such a wack job he'd have way more titles.
For proof of his abillity watch the video of his 5 minute 147. It's one of the most impressive things I've ever seen in any sport/game..

I think I would go with either Stephen Hendry or Steve Davis. Ray Reardon wasn't that bad either.
I know Ronnie O'Sullivan is talented but I don't rate him as highly as the others.
