If you don't feel you can ask your bf this directly then you really shouldn't be considering marriage.

maybe he just wanted to show how much he loves you. maybe he did not really want to get married right away but he wants you to be his wife. aww. that was sweet. look, even if a person has drunk a lot of alcohol,it wouldn't mean that all he'll be saying are all lies. being drunk would even trigger you in telling your secrets or things you've been hiding. =)

i've actually heard of this before. a drunken proposal. very odd. but it happens and it doesnt necessarily mean anything other than that your bf may drink too much.
ask him about it. why not?

Drunk or not, he still said it.
Be honest with him about it. Talk to him and find out if he remembers or not. Even if he does not, there is nothing wrong with telling him what he said/did. Besides, maybe he just needs a little reminder.

try and talk to him about it, but in a way that dopesnt come across as having a go at him or trying to push him into asking again.
he might be a little embarrassed this morning as he knows it was the beer talking.
he does like you though and has obviously been thinking about it, but maybe he's worried about scaring you off.

En Vino Veritas (In wine...truth). He meant it, but you are one of millions who have received an alcohol soaked proposal. Don't press it. A sober offering is on the horizon

Yeah, pubs are british. short for public house.
I think its best to speak to him to find out. It sounds like he may have had a rethink, but then again, maybe he meant it but just hasnt mentioned it today.
You have to ask him.
