Is it worth paying extra money for overland jeep cherokee, what's the specs? Will it be a better feature when I sell the car in years to come?

You would need to compare all the statistics in the brochures to find out for sure, but I would go for the overland version as it will hold its value better, and preform better when off roading.

Also the new freelander is fantastic...

The difference is the available options. The Jeep Grand Cherokee has quite a few options available from the factory, but the Overland model has every option under the sun on it already, plus the overland came with locking front and rear differentials I do believe.
