Im off to open a different bank account today, I DONT WANT BARCLAYS! I have contacted every one that pays any money into my account to "freeze" any transactions, and wait to Ive got a new bank.
Barclays have messed up big style and they are NOT having my custom.
How many of you will be doing the same? or think the same?

Think yourself lucky, here in Australia, we have to pay THE BANK a monthly fee to even have a bank or savings account (with no frills, either - they cost extra!)

There aint nothing free in banking here - give me Barclays warts and all anyday! :o)

woolwich was part of Barclays anyway before they switched to trading as Barclays not Woolwich. My partner banks with woolwich and has been changed over. I think they should have asked you if u wanted to stay but they want to keep ur custom. would be nice to have been asked but if customers declined think how much xtra work THEY will have to do to close accounts etc. they cant be bothered!!

If they DID ask, and you said 'no' - then what else could they do but close your account ?

NB. You may not believe this, but you can take your account elsewhere whenever you like === you DON'T need ANY reason at all !

PS - I find it amazing how many times Customers seem to imagine they have some 'right' to be consulted over decisions made by a Company ..

Usually when one bank buys out another, the shareholders of the bank have to okay the buyout on both ends. If you own shares in your bank then you would have been asked. Do you own shares? Also, even if you voted against the merge, you still may have been out voted.

Not surprised you don't want Barclays. After the recent TV Prog. which slated their business activities, I would not want to deal with them either.
