Dear Real Christian,
i think the Bible is quite clear that Jesus loved the sinner! Jesus spent much of his time with those who were the outcasts of their society. The Bible teaches us that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son.
Christ summarized the entire laws by saying: Love God and Love others.
Although Christ loved sinners and homosexuality is clearly a sin-- Christ does not give any specific instructions as to treating homosexuals differently from any others. Christ does address standards of conduct within the church and i think that if my homosexual friends wanted to attend church that would be great- but it's quite another thing if they wanted to remain homosexual and say be a Sunday School teacher or serve on staff.
The Bible teaches an attitude of love. Sometimes telling people the truth is a loving act. Encouraging people to do what is loving God is a loving act, and so the Bible does not condemn homosexuality- it warns against how it is defiant towards God and does so- to encourage homosexuals to repent of this sin so that they may have a fellowship and relationship with God.
i think for anyone who calls themselves a Christian, we agree with God's Holy and Inspired word.
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

Sin is “any want of conformity unto or transgression of the law of God” (1Jo_3:4; Rom_4:15), in the inward state and habit of the soul, as well as in the outward conduct of the life, whether by omission or commission (Rom_6:12-17; Rom_7:5-24). Sin is not a mere violation of the law of our constitution, nor of the system of things, but an offense against a personal lawgiver and moral governor who vindicates his law with penalties. Some sins in themselves, and by reason of various aggravations, are more heinous in the sight of God than others (Jn. 19:11; 1 Jn. 5:16).
Since God, speaking through the inspired prophets authoring the books of the bible, declared homosexuality a sin, then it is a sin.
See: Leviticus 18:22; Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9,10; 1 Timothy 1:10.
Thus, homosexuality is just one of a litany of the decay of the perfect moral state found in original creation.
As all sinners, homosexuals can be true Christians. All sin is objectionable to God. Since homosexuality is often practiced openly ("in your face"), the reaction by some who have wandered off the “love thy neighbor” reservation is over the top. It may also be the case that anyone that seems to revel in their sin seems defiant or disingenuous, if they are a self-professed Christian. I believe that the true Christian homosexual struggles daily with their sinful nature.
Some resources regarding homosexuality and the bible to help you understand the issue or the reaction of others:

Happiness to Christians is more than the needs of the flesh. Homosexuals must continue to pray for strength to resist their urges and strive to be obedient to the scriptures.

Judges 19:22
While they were enjoying themselves, some of the wicked men of the city surrounded the house. Pounding on the door, they shouted to the old man who owned the house, "Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have
sex with him."
MORE CHAPTERS LATER
10 We'll take ten men out of every hundred from all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred from a thousand, and a thousand from ten thousand, to get provisions for the army. Then, when the army arrives at Gibeah [a] in Benjamin, it can give them what they deserve for all this vileness done in Israel." 11 So all the men of Israel got together and united as one man against the city.
12 The tribes of Israel sent men throughout the tribe of Benjamin, saying, "What about this awful crime that was committed among you? 13 Now surrender those wicked men of Gibeah so that we may
put them to death and purge the evil from Israel."

as you would have them treat you. homosexuality is wrong but all christians are guilty of sin. remove the plank from your eye before you look for the speck in another.......homosexuals should refrain from the act of homosexuality, for their sake. the same as others should refrain from pre marital sex, abortion etc...........i can't locate the verses right now, sorry.
for nicole.........just something you might find interesting, the bible does not say what was written in the sand but many scholars believe that jesus had begun to write the sins of some of the people present, hence they left angry but could say nothing to proceed.

Perfect example of the hypocrisy of Christianity, "Love they neighbor," but oops not if their gay. There is no reason to treat someone with negativity or disrespect, just because of their preference in companion or because the bible says so.

Without question, God directs Christians to love everyone through treating them as you would want to be treated - repsect basic human dignity, and so forth.
As far as congregating with and fraternizing, I refer to two events: that fact that God wants his people not to live among and closely congregating in leisure with those with sinful lifestyles i.e. Sodom and Gomora and other indicences "be not unequally yoked." and numerous passages about keeping ones self away from others who commit acts that are not acceptable in Gods eyes. The other is how Jesus went among the sinners to spread the Word, not saving it for the chosen, not snubbing, and therefore attracting others to God by being a living example of compassion...
Ultimately it is difficult to be among people and not become "as" and "of" that people. So, I think God wants us not to snub or cut others off from our interactions, but to reserve our deep, intimate, and majority of our time in interaction in fellowship with other Christians because it helps us grow in the understanding of the Lord.
