At least kitty is well-fed or he wouldn't be bringing you anything. Toss the gifts out. We had one cat. I swear she was the world's greatest mouser. Rented a home in White Bear Lake, MN with a partially finished basement. Left the door open because we knew there were mice down there. Every morning...one or two were at the top of the stairs. She was doing her job and showed us. We gave her praise, and she carried on. Eventually eradicated them all. Stayed in a log cabin one night while on vacation. Bugs all over. By the next morning. Nada. Of course she bounced around the cabin all night but there wasn't a fly, moth or mosquito alive in the building the next morning. Lots of insect corpses though. Loved that cat! The birds are another story though. If you let him outside, you might want to get a harness and leash. Doing vermin is one thing, birds is another. Not cool. Under the circumstances, you're not going to hurt the cat's feelings. What do you think the cat wants you to do? Eat it in front of him? Yeeeew. You can't hurt a cat's feelings that way. We dumped all of Cindy's catches and she still liked us. Never equate human emotions with feline. They don't equate except for one: We like them and they like/tolerate us.

Awww this is such a cute question. It's not too often that people are concerned about hurting their kitty's feelings! I'm impressed!
What I would do when my cat would bring me dead mice and chipmonks was praise him and say thank you. Then when they weren't around I'd take the pooper scooper and toss the rodents across the road to rest in peace.
Good luck! :D

Lol my cat used to get rats and play with them got a parrot and ate it lol lizards to play with omg it was like ewwwww but then if ur pet gets it and keeps it at ur feet lol omg ewwww just pat him/her and scratch his/her head nicely and then after they r distracted just throw it away lol u cannot do anything other then that just appreciate it bringing things at home by running ur hands softly over them and this sure will distract them from their catch. Lol they think they r being responsible and out of love they bring u things. Lol my cat when it started to go out to get a female for the first time got the female cat to the home to show her off to us LMAO it was one hilarious moment and I told my mom see mummy our son has got us a new daughter in law lol...........

It's in a cat's nature to hunt. It's also in their nature to be "approved of" by their owner. They are very sensitive about their gifts, for instance if you throw it away while they see you they will think they did something wrong. But if you are sneaky and do it when they aren't looking then hopefully they won't know you discarded it.... Lol. They are just trying to help. But if you had mice wouldn't you want your cat to hunt them? LOL! Make sure not to hurt your cats feelings.

when my cat brings me a gift, a bird, a mouse, a grasshopper, i tell him good cat and pet him, and think how good it feels that he looks up to me enough to give me a present. then i pick it up, and go where he can't see me, to put it in the garbage.
some writers say that cats look on us as the alpha, or parent cat .

I say thank you for the gift and get rid of it when the cat doesn't see I don't want or need it.

They do it out of great love and respect, so I never yell or punish them. I wrap my "present" in t.p. or kleenex and and pet my kitty and talk sweet to him. Then, when he's all proud of himself and isn't looking, I toss it into the trash.
My kitty brings me dusty old moths and flies. Ewww!

ha ha ha ha... Just make sure that you praise him and thank him and unobstrusively dispose of the dead carcass or various body parts (when kitty isn't looking). Your cat must think very highly of you indeed to bring you a daily offering! What devotion! What love! Kudos to your kitty.

I throw the gift away, then again my cats will forget about the gift giving in ten minutes.

Hi this is Brittany on my boyfriends account. I have a cat that brings me gifts too and I just do what you do because I don't want to hurt her feelings. I don't think there is anything wrong with it.
