I get your point wolfman, but someone stated that when you get a blessing from the church that they tell you what tribe of Israel you are from. Wouldn't you be curious?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints(Mormons) believes in revelation. There are people in the church called patriarchs just like in the bible. They receive revelation as to what tribe of Israel a certain person is from. Many people are adopted into a tribe as they are not a direct descendant of the lineage of Israel. (Not everyone is of Jewish descent) A good place to learn about this church is www.lds.org or www.mormon.org.
Patriarchs don't so much see the future. They have impressions as to what to say.

First: the tribe of Israel each person is from is dependent on many things but mostly it is determined by your family lineage. Each person in the LDS Church has the right to a special blessing called a Patriarchal (I'm not good at spelling that) Blessing and in the blessing you are told which house of Israel you are from or adopted into. Your "tribe" is not really relevant to anyone but you as it has no bearing on your status in the Church.
Second: A member is found worthy if they are living the principles of the Gospel as it has been restored. That is, they do not smoke, drink alcohol, take illegal drugs, do not commit adultery or fornication, do not participate in homosexual acts and also they attend regualr Church meetings, pay tithing, donate time to the service of others, are honest in their dealings and do not abuse family members/spouses. Divorced members must be current with child support or spousal support. Single members must be chaste. And no, we don't expect everyone to be "perfect" or repentance would't have a place in the world. However, we are expected to work towards that goal. If you really want to know more just check out LDS.org.

If this have been in basic terms a civil rights project, then the church does no longer are transforming into in touch in any respect. the concern regarding comparable-intercourse marriage, whether, isn't in basic terms a civil project. It touches on elementary Christian ideals, which makes it a ethical project...and a church has each actual to get entangled in a project they suspect offends or a minimum of concerns God. in spite of everything, however, the Mormon church did no longer spend any tithing income this reason. Tithing money basically is going in direction of maintenance of homes etc (no longer even to salaries). contributors donated privately, yet whilst the tallies have been made, those inner maximum donations all went decrease than the heading of the LDS (Mormon) church. That being the case, this question is somewhat moot.

I'm sure the blessing is pretty standardized text with a level of vagueness to seem credible to the victim/subject. Add a mixture of prayerful thought, contemplation and meditation plus what the Patriarch was watching on TV the night before and you get the spiritual equivalent of a "Wild-As$ Guess"
This may explain why I was identified as of the tribe of "Howdy Doody".

Everyone gets to know what tribe they are from and they all seem to come from the same tribe, I believe it is the tribe of benjamine, the patriarc who is giving the patriarticle blessing (fortune telling) tells you this first and then basically tells yoo, you will marry in the temple and have kids, and if your a man, go on a mission trip.

The patriarch determines a person's lineage from revelation from God.
Patriarchs don't determine a person's "worthiness" for anything. That is done by the bishop, for certain things, like going to the temple. He can't tell how "worthy" a person is, only by the answers given to certain questions. It is up to the person to tell the truth, or lie. But GOD always knows.

I think it doesn't matter what tribe your from as long as you share the beliefs of the church and follow their doctrine
