This is most likely a keloid scar that was caused by some kind of trauma to your piercing. I would leave it alone and do sea salt soaks on the piercing (cotton ball soaked in sea salt solution 2-3x's a day) and if that does not improve in a week or so talk to your doctor or go see a piercer for their insight ( they often have ideas that no one else does). Also try cleaning it once a day with Dial antibacterial soap (unscented) but only for a week or so. Good luck and I hope you can salvage your piercing.

You are suppose to wear a studded earring for 2 years before putting in a hoop or ring. It takes at least 2 years for your cartilage to completely heal with the hole in it. When you put a hoop or ring in it....(because its a curved surface) the ear is trying to close the hole. That is why you get that bump over the top of it. Plus the ware of the hoop or ring (when it flips up and down) can cause a rubbing action that will cause a blood blister. That is why you have a scab and its crusty. Also, when putting in a hoop or ring... you are doing a curving motion with the hoop or ring into the hole...when doing that....your ear will bleed. Unlike with a stud which is a straight shot into the hole!

I recommend that you put the stud back in. Make sure that is it a quality stud (cheap studs will cause more problems)!

If problem persist see your doctor!

Best of luck!

It should usually become OK. This problem is common among people who get their ears pierced. If it persists, see a doctor and follow his/her advice. If it goes too far, plastic surgery may be the only way, I'm afraid.

Apparently this happens to quite a large percentage of people who have their ears pierced. Sometimes it resolves itself, however when it happened to my mum she eventually ended up having to get a plastic surgeon to remove the fibrous tissue, as it just would not go away and was causing pain.
